Would you buy an OEM buyback 997 Lemon?
Hello,
I am looking at buying a 2005 Carrera S that was originally a California car and was designated as a lemon. It was bought back by Porsche and the engine was replaced at 21k miles. The car is now in Canada with the second owner since it was put back onto the market and has about 33k miles. The car seems in great shape, has a detailed history on paper since it was re-sold by Porsche and has Porsche warranty until Dec 08. The car has been serviced at the local dealer and I am going to get a pre-purchase inspection at the dealer.
Is there anything I should be aware of or watch out for when buying a "lemon" (ie - if I want to upgrade to another Porsche in a year or two, will this history impair my ability to re-sell the car?)
Would appreciate any advise or comments
Thanks

I think that your decision might depend on why it was a deemed a 'lemon' in the first instance. If it was because of electrical gremlins of any sort, as the others have said, pass, as widely as possible. But if it were engine related and it has a new one and you can verify all that and the deal is right, well......... A lot of 'ands' there so you need to have the stomach for it and the deal MUST be right.

33k miles tells me that the car has been driven and not broken down in the shop since its redeployment. i'd probably give it a shot if it was a good deal.
