Default Black Dash Top?

I'm having trouble with the glare on the natural leather on the 997, {old eyes I guess}. What's the best solution to change it to black.

Local leather shop ?
New parts from Porsche?
Other ?

Going to be expensive. Maybe a high end auto leather shop. The glare was the main reason I went with a bi color leather option...Good Luck...GR

Cheap Fix:

Go to your local sunglass shop and buy a set of Maui Jim's. I've driven light tan interiors on both my Porsches over the past 10 years with Maui Jim sunglasses, with very little problem.

Yep...best sunglasses money can buy. No question.

Eric I dare you to start a new topic:

What kind of sunglasses do you wear?

Ahh...love my Maui Jim. Tried many different makes and models, but still can't find anything that fits as well as Maui Jim.

This is why I refuse to purchase any car that doesn't have a black dash. Any light color light always reflects in the windshield on bright sunny days.

I have the sand interior and dash and a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses (light brown) which work just fine. Glare is not a problem, even with the low angle of the winter sun and snow outside adding to the glare.

Sunglasses have some dffect, but these older eyes need more assistance than they caa provide. Bought the car off the lot for my wife, but now she's taken over my Mini, and I'm stuck with the 911.... Not a bad trade, but If it were my car I would have ordered it with a stick, and with a black dash.

Local leather shop seem sto be the best long term solution... Hope the dash top isn't held in place with exoxy!

I heard that it's attached with sacrificial $100 bills.

Apparently many hours of labor to remove acording to some on this forum. This problem keeps me from looking at many otherwise perfectly good cars. If you call the dealer for the labor cost, why don't you post it on here? It would be interesting to know if this is really an expensive problem or not.
