Default Clear film question......had no luck searching

The car I just bought has clear film only in front of the rear wheels where the body flares out behind the doors. Do all Porsches come this way from the factory? Is this film similar to the clear bra film that everyone talks about? I forgot to ask the previous owner if he had it done.

Yes, that is from the factory. It's been there at least since the 80's, AFAIK.

It is very similar to other clear bra materials on the market, although there are variations.

That's a factory piece and from what I can tell the better installers would remove it and place a larger piece in the same area, but more descretely (less visible edges). Otherwise it is similar to clear bra (essentially the same idea - a clear plastic film to protect against grit, salt, bugs, etc). I think that's the only place it comes from the factory, so if you want the nose or any other area protected you have to find a good installer.

You guys are quick, thanks. I'm still debating whether to go the clear bra or not. If it was brand new I would probably do it.

My factory guards had yellowed (actually it was the adhesive) so I got bigger after market pieces installed under factory warranty thanks to my dealer and the clear bra installer, who was picking up a little extra business doing the rear bumper and wheel wells, etc.
