Sport Bucket Seats

I did a search but could only find minimal information. Anyone have any photos of the seats?

Are you referring to adaptive sport seats?

Mark1996 02-12-2008 11:11 PM

No. The brand new sport bucket seats. Go to the Porsche website. If you see them, you will want to order a new car with them. I do.

They are folding carbon fiber seats and they are available as a regular option on both the Cayman and the 911 base model.

This is a pic of the US-spec sport bucket. Folding, w/thorax airbag in the seat. If you're anywhere near Chicago there is one on display at the auto show.

I want them, how much per seat?

They look like a hollowed-out, carbon fiber-ized, non-powered version of the A.S.S.s (at a $400 premium).

Apparently, no adjustments other than manual fore/aft and no heaters. Seating surface also looks like alcantera. Hopefully, there will be some upgrades.

If you want all the gizmos in your seats just get the adaptive sport seats.
Those are the bucket seats, for better support on spirited driving (track). The goal is to keep them light so adding heating and power defeat the purpose. They don't even recline.

Ok. I like. How can you not like? They fold. They have airbags. They look cool.

Hmmm... I bet they are expensive.

Here is a video that prominently features the sports buckets. If I were planning on putting in any significant track time I would want them, but they're a little too Spartan for my needs.

The other important thing they do for the track (at least I think they do) is allow for a harness. Clearly they allow for a four point. I'll bet they do, but it's not clear if they allow for five and/or six point harnesses.

I like'em but wonder if they're comfy....they do look sweet.

More headroom?

Anyone know if these seats give more headroom? I need an inch or more.
