Default hate to ask, PASM and sport Chrono question...

I know a LOT has been covered in regards to sport chrono and PASM? The car I am buying has the sport chrono package but does not have PASM. On base Carerra was told that PASM is not standard but an option.... is PASM an option that people love? Thanks all....

I am calling back the dealer now to lock up the deal, will be a proud owner of a 2005 997, nicely options (bose, Zenon, sport chrono, etc....) with roughly 15K miles, CPO's till near 2011! I am pretty excited....

Thanks all for helping me along the way with all my questions....

Default 50,450

50,450 CPO'd, I think a great deal IMO....keep in mind not the time to be buying a porsche in Boston weather conditions....so that was in my favor.

I think you will find that most people leave their PASM in normal mode. For that reason, you won't miss it.

Congrats mickfluff... I've been looking around for a 997 and I must say you got a SMOKING deal for a 997 with that low mileage... AND CPO'd !!!

You are right.. unfortunately im in SoCal.. and prices for CPO vehicles are MUCH higher... for 15K miles and similar specs, you are looking at over $60K out here... hmmm... time for a road trip for me???

Well, enjoy your new baby (weather permitting)!!!!

I use PASM in Sport mode all the time, especially when autocrossing or when I just want to "drive" the car as opposed to commuting in it. My 996 had the M030 sports suspension option and I really felt that the firmer ride was worth it in handling. What's nice about PASM is you have the best of both worlds whenever you want it at the touch of a button. Having said that I think you're getting a good deal on the car, if it's what you want you won't miss what you don't have - and if you do the price you're paying is good enough to drive your car a year and get another one without too much cost. Enjoy your new car and post pics!

I drive on the street in normal mode all the time. I drive at the track in sport mode sometimes. Sometimes I feel the car get around the bumpy Sebring track better in normal mode and the sport stiff mode. The sport stiff shock setting is really not all that stiff anyway.

Default thanks!

Thanks...

Just need to dress it up a bit, ordered some exhaust tips, clear side markers, and working on a tire/rim package this week.... Looking forward to spring.

I happen to love my PASM. I have a 997S cabriolet. When in the sport suspension set-up the feel and reponsiveness of the car just tightens and adheres to the road. Steering and turning synapses become enhanced, and the overall dynamics of this athelete, (911), becomes one with the driver. If you had the opportunity to test drive a 997 with PASM, I think that you would enjoy the spirit and precision of the ride. Look at it in this manner. For those who have ever skied there's nothing like cutting those "S" turns with good bindings. The same applies here. In any event which ever car you decide upon it's still a 911, and yes still the pedigre of a Porsche. Good luck.

I'm not sure I follow, even in normal mode PASM is still constantly adjusting the suspension and will automatically stiffen up or ease up (within a wide range) based on driver input, something the standard suspension isn't able to do. PASM is always on, and always working. It's not like normal mode reverts the car to something like a non-PASM setup (and all the sport button does is change the range and keeps PASM within the stiffer settings.)

To me the beauty of PASM is that it is 'active'. It is more than just a Normal and Sport settings -- When in Normal mode it will automatically 'stiffen up' the dampers when we drive hard enough. Also when in Sport mode it will automatically 'soften down' the dampers when the road quality drops. Pretty neat IMHO.

With best regards,
