Open the trunk, go up to the passengers side and take off plastic covers (molding) and look under the black flap to find you filter....

Cerbo the guy has a 991 and might be lost in his forum. From what i understand he has replaced the outside air filter already what he is asking is if we know where the iside filter is. The 991's alredy have the recirculated air filter for the ac standard. Which is something i was hoping we could retrofit to our 997's.

Speaking of documenting the DIY service. What do you guys write in? What about the dealer stamp area?

I keep my own detailed records. Dates/mileage/receipts etc...
If someone doesn t buy my car because of that I don t care. I know it s done right, I had the satisfaction of doing it myself and I saved money. It s part of the ownership experience for me. I m talking about all these simple items. I wouldn t drop the trans, but that s just me.

Save the oil and filter receipts and keep them in your folder. If you every had a warranty or dealer issue that will be important. Most are out of warranty already except CPO cars I would assume.

That's exactly what I do too...plus the mileage.

Default 20,000 mile service at home

Digital cameras are great. A shot of the odometer, the old filter and new, the old and new crush washer, the oil draining from the pan, etc. Since these are date coded, they make great digital support documentation. I also keep the receipts, email the photos to myself, and add the pictures into my WORD based car diary with results of inspections done as the oil drains. I also post expenditures by date so I can track costs. This gives me an easy way to show hard copy should I ever need it as well as a place to keep all other sorts of links and information for the next steward (no, the car is not for sale, won't be for as long as I can drive, may not be after that as well, and I have no intentions).
