But keep in mind, the GT3 wheels are some of the heaviest out there. Not great if you are looking for optimal performance (unsprung weight).

Which makes me wonder why Porsche puts them on their 3 hi performance cars - the GT3, GT3RS and the GT2??

Because someone thought they looked cool

So, if you put the GT3 wheel on a C2, can you fit 305's on the rear of a C2 vs. the OEM of 295?

Exactly my sarcastic point. At 24 lbs 5 oz front and 30 lbs 13 oz rear they are way too heavy, are cast instead of forged, etc. Heck, 19x8 / 19x11 Lobster Claws (22 lbs 4 oz / 27 lbs 12 oz) are superior and properly sized for 235/305 rubber. A car like the GT3 / GT3 should have forged wheels in the 20 / 22 lb range maximum. Think about it, 8 lbs saved per wheel -- must be why so many GT3 owners buy aftermarket wheels and sell off their oems. Looks like marketing trumping engineering yet again.

You can put 305s on an 11" wheel easy -- it's right in the middle of the tire's specification range. In fact, a 12" wheel from the GT3 is stretching things a bit.

They got away from using the heavier wheel as the PSC's that come on the car are 2-3 lbs ligher than the non PSC's. I am so tempted with the GT3 wheels...I just love the way they look.

Ron did you go with the PF rotors yet??

You can fit a 305 on the OEM 11" wheel no problem...

The PFC rears are now made for the 997S, but not yet the fronts. I found one company that makes light-weight 2-piece slotted rotors, but they are very expensive (I think $2k a set). I'll wait for the PFCs at about $1200. My OEM are holding up pretty well already -- I'll see how the PFC 97s work the next 2 days at Lime Rock. So far around town trying to clean off the rotors I can say they are very dusty. I have to get some heat into them to bed them in.

Any time frame from them regarding availability??

Frankly, I was surprised to see that turbo wheels are as heavy as they are, considering they are forged. Years ago the Fuchs alloys (also forged) were significantly lighter than nearly anything else people could find to put on their 911s.

See--

Porsche 997 Wheels

Porsche Factory Carrera S - 100 lbs, 0 oz.

8x19" 22 lbs. 4 oz.
11x19" 27 lbs. 12 oz.

Porsche Factory Carrera Classic - 104 lbs, 10 oz.

8x19" 23 lbs. 10 oz.
11x19" 28 lbs. 11 oz.

Porsche Factory Carrera Sport Design - 104 lbs, 12 oz.

8x19" 24 lbs. 3 oz.
11x19" 28 lbs. 3 oz.

Porsche Factory Carrera Sport - 106 lbs, 12 oz.

8.5x19" 24 lbs. 2 oz.
11.5x19" 29 lbs. 4 oz.

Turbo forged rims

8x19 (987, 997 non turbo front) 23.4 pounds
8.5x19 (997 turbo front) 23.9 pounds
9.5x19 (987 rear) 25 pounds
11x19 (997 turbo rear) 28.8 pounds

Have used the PDC 97 for since may. The brak effect is superior the OEM pads, but they dust like h...!!! Peticular the combination of wet conditon and track driving makes the brake dust to burn on the wheels. Have used up to two hours for each wheel to get them clean. Maybe the combination with PF discs cure this problem, but with OEM discs they are to messy.

They also eats the brake discs fast.

Thats why I'll go for ceramics, same or better braking with no dust
