Default your thoughts on mounting and remounting?

(that would be tires!)

I will need winter tires for my 997s, I am debating removing the summer tires and mounting the winter tires on the current turbo wheels, vs spending the money and buying winter wheels

Is there a problem with removing and then remounting the summer tired yearly?

the expense, after a few years the wheels pay for themselves.

18s tend to be better in the snow than 19s. the narrower tire on the 18 helps.

price is substantially lower for 18s, both wheel and tire.

I like the change from one to the other as well. Like getting something new every 6 months.

Plus you always risk damage with dismount / mount.

And it seems like your tires last forever. Even if it isn't really true. Just spead out across two sets. But it seems better!

As you are beginning to see, it's always best to have an extra set of rims for such situations. They can also get you by if you have an inadvertent flat, etc. and you can't wait for a special tire. I used to keep a set of street wheels and tires and a set of autocross wheels and tires. In your case, substitute for snows,--like the 18s.

BTW, this is Chagrin River road, anybody who lives in the eastern Cleveland area may recognize it. I use it when I drive to the Hospital to make rounds, great to drive fast when I have a ready excuse: "but officer, I am on the way to the ER to see a patient"

If your tire mounter rips or damages the bead on one of the tires you just lost the "savings" of using one set of rims.

Also, if one of your rims gets curb rash, you have it fixed, the tire removal/mounting will probably remove the repair.

Get the extra set of rims would be my vote.
