Default Carrera 4 wheels on a Carrera 2

Hi,

Is it ok to put wheels from a Carrera 4 on a Carrera 2? The wheel I thinking of is the Carrera Sport Design Wheel.

You can mount them but the offset is different (51mm vs. 67) so the wheel will extend about 16mm further out than stock C2 wheels. Probably a good chance of rubbing issues too.

Ok, will it extend outside the fenders? Rubbing issues? To the fenders or inside? Sorry for all this stupid questions.

Put a ruler or a tape measure to the sidewall of your stock C2 tire and go outwards 16mm or 5/8". That's where the C4 tire wall will end up. As for rubbing, it may or may not be an issue on Carreras........never explored it. I think you can say that it's at least a possibility on any car when you try to cram more wheel and tire into a well that's designed for less.

Thank you for taking time to answer my questions! I´ll go out and see how much wider it will be. Do anybody have a C4 tire on a C2 car?

I tried this and actually had them mounted on my car. Never drove on them though.

Here is the reply I got from Wheel Enhancements when I asked them the same question;

David, you can use the 11x19" ET51 Carrera S wheels with the 305/30ZR19 tires on the rear of your 997 Carrera S without rubbing or causing any damage. Please call us at (310) 836-8908 or e-mail us if you have any additional questions.

Thank you, Dave Martin

If you would like a set of lobsters off a C4S to try, make me a reasonable offer. I have a complete set. The rears have TPMS with less than 100 miles and no tires. The fronts have 11,000 with Pirellis and no TPMS. If you need TPMS I can exchange the front wheels. The fronts are the same wheel for both the C2S and the C4S.

Thanks for your reply, I live in Europe and already have an oportunity to buy a set but thanks anyway.

Do anybody have a picture of a ET51 wheel mounted on a C2? Will it affect handling? Warranty?

Thank you, sir! I love the car, and although some of my friends here call Arctic Silver "boring", I drive the car daily and appreciate the fact that it looks clean even when it's really dirty... <g>

Good luck with your wheel search!

i will be trying this in a few days, i will update you guys. i suspect that it should work, 295 tires will fit with no problem, but the 305's may be a few mm too much.
i currently have an offset of 49mm with 295 tires on my narrow 997...

I have Artic over Cocoa and love it for the same reasons.

I like the invisibility of the color in regards to enforcement too.

Yeah, dndodd - I find that to be the case, too. Of course, as soon as I say that, I'm going to get popped big-time...

As much as I love Speed Yellow or Guards Red, I have to say that Arctic Silver bridges the gap between asphalt and concrete roadway surfaces. It's as stealthy as a 911 can be.

Now, where's my invisibility cloak?

Sent you an PM . Basically just e-mail me at ddodd100@charter.net and I will send you as many pics as you want.

The wheels are like new. I don't see any imperfections.
