Porsche Driving Experience (PDE)
If you have not done it.
You should
If you have done it...
You should do the Masters Program.
What are your excuses for not doing so??
Yep I'm in Birmingham to attend the Masters yet again.
Barber is just such a fun place to drive, and beautiful too.
2.38 miles long, 16 turns, most of which are flowing
80’ of elevation change
Looking forward to Track Lapping, Skid Pad (black ice), AutoX and all the rest.
Driving is all about seat time, and it's so fun to drive the P car in the environment and manner for what it was designed
Driving public roads you have NO idea of the cars capabilities
Tomorrow the fun begins!!!

I will be at PDE before this driving season is over. I've gotton a taste of my 997S on the track and now I want more. I always appreciate your reports from Barber. Keep them comming.
Also, can you ask the insturctors about the issue discussed on another thread regarding whether the throttle body will automatically close during heel toe shifiting if you come on the brakes hard.

There is never a problem heel toe downshifting getting a blip. (clutch is in)
Problem is when you try to left foot brake, throtle is cut. (clutch is out)
Guess if you want to left foot brake, a disable/bypass of the clutch safety interlock would do the trick.
The DME is fooled thinking that the clutch is in.

A Couple of Videos
PDE today was GREAT
Drove a Cayman on the AutoX course, A great handling car that I like better than the Boxster. Course is the same basic layout but has been tightenes up a bit...did a 27.44
Around 75 miles of lapping....pretty hot today, a bit over 90°, which can make for some greasey driving conditions with the car sliding about = FUN !
Here are a couple of videos showing some instruction insight:
Instructional ride w/ spin
Lunch Theory w/ Jeff
More tomerrow

Sure she won't do it seminaked (but if you buy her enough beers at her pub, you never know, but I wouldn't try!). But she's cute( in a bavarian woman sort of way) and a helluva driver. She even impressed my wife enough to run a few laps on the ring a few years back.
