Porsche Loaner Car When You Take Your Car For Service?
Do you guys get offered a loaner car of some sort when dropping your car for service?
I bought my car last Saturday, got a flat on Tuesday. It's been at the dealer since Wednesday and they cant seem to get a new tire. They ordered one and said the supplier send them the wrong size.
I am not impressed at all with the whole Porsche experience and hospitality so far. Having a BMW M5 - i can tell the service I get offered by my BMW service is way..way...better.
Is it just me or is this the norm??

Sorry, but it really depends on the dealership. Take your salesman/service manager on a side-bar and let him know your dissatisfaction. Additionally, let him know that the next time they may loose you as their customer.
Good luck!

Most dealers only have 3-6 loaners and they are given to customers with big repair bills that aren't under warranty. For a tire change, how do you think the dealer will make a dime if they loan you a car? They charge you 0.5-1 hr of labor only for mounting, balancing.
Unless you know the SA and arrange for a loaner ahead of time, you won't get a loaner. That's my experience. Since my services were under warranty, I always get a rental car when I don't get a loaner. I've had nice Cadillacs, sucky Mitsu SUVs, Pontiacs.
Keep in mind that Porsche dealer is smaller compared to BMW. Also, BMW (the manufacturer) probly pays for loaners instead of dealer covering for the costs.

Same here. I was given a Cayene V6, 2006 model when my exhaust tip was changed. My dealership is super. They fed me cookies and gave me drinks, the whole team came out to say Hi, etc... They also know that I am eyeing the Turbo so may be that explained the addtional attention.
BTW, the Cayenne V6 was a piece of crap, underpowered, reminded me of toyota CRV. I am embarrased that Porsche put a truck like that on the road. I am sure the V8 and Turbo is much better.
They also changed out my audio system. There is a software update for the system but for some reason they couldn't update it so they changed out the whole unit!

I don't even know any dealer in the Bay Area will offer a loaner when you bring your car in for service. Under warrenty or not. If any one knowany dealer will do a loaner, please let us know.

The dealer I bought my car from Parktown Imports arranges for a loaner car from Enterprise Leasing. Something real fancy such as Ford Focus or the likes. Really pisses me off. I get to drive a LR3 when our Range Rover is serviced, an RX330 when our Lexus is serviced and a 325I when my wifes car goes in for service. Seems like Porsche at least Partown Imports Porsche is a little behind the times when it comes to loaners and after sales support.

My Porsche dealer is also a VW/Audi dealer and they give me loaners during the warranty period. They are usually slightly beat Audis or VWs. My BMW dealer is part of the same network and has a nice fleet of new BMWs they use for loaners. BMW apparently has some program to encourage this kind of customer service. I know of a few Porsche dealers that give Porsches for loaners in the NYC area.

Had my car in for service many times, always get a Porsche loaner. 90% of the time, I get a current model year Boxster. I do, however, plan my appointments in advance, when they can accomodate my request for a Porsche loaner - usually 3-5 days out. If I come in off the street, typically get whatever Enterprise has handy. Once, I was given a base model Cayenne. I agree, that car is a piece of crap. My wife has an X5 3.0, and I'd take that any day of the week over the base Cayenne. While I'm in the bay area, I've not been particularly pleased with their ability to fix problems with the car, so I hesitate to give them any free advertising here.
