Sold 997 & Almost Died (serious)
Well I sold the 997 and the buyer picked it up the tues. before x-mas.....
Thought I had the flu and then had un-believable pain in my neck for the next few days....
X-mas Day, after not being able to get out of bed for 4 days(pain in neck) I came down with 104 fever....
Called 911 and caught a ride in ambulance at 2am....
After a spinal tap they found I had Bacterial Spinal Menegitis! Very deadly!!!
10 days later I got out of hospital and am recovering at home!
Be careful with the flu and dont wait to get in to see a doctor!

Ohhhh, I thought you sold your 997 and almost died from the withdrawal symptoms. Thought it was gonna be another one of those "I can't believe how great this car is" thread.
Seriously though, glad you recovered fully, Robert. And thanks for reminding us not to take infections and fevers lightly.

Welcome back rss997. That's very scary encounter you had - glad you're still with us. I tend to put off going to doctor until it gets bad. Thanks for the reminder to get in early.

So sorry to hear about this. My father caught SM during an operation about 6 months before he died. Beyond the terrible physical implications it got into his brain and also caused a permanent personality alteration. Glad to hear your okay and on the way to recovery.
On a lighter note if you caught SM in November it could explain why you decided sell your beauty. Since it happened after I guess we'll just have to accept your rational track car reasoning.

Whoa,...glad you're OK. Do you know if you had Neisseria Men. or Strep Pneumo? These are two of the leading cause of bacterial meningitis in your age group.
I'm glad you're doing well...maybe you should treat yourself to another 911?

I am not sure which it was, I will find out at my Wed. Doctor visit!
They did 5 MRI's, 2 Ct scans, brain scan and a white cell thermo nuclear scan to try to find a source of infection....All were negative!!!
Chalk it up to a mystery said my infectious disease doctor!

Consider yourself lucky
My great friend and co-resident at the USC orthopaedic surgery department (1994-1999) died on New Years Eve in Carlsbad. He just turned 40 and recently had his first child 7 weeks ago. He was surfing and got out of the water because he did not feel right. He then died from a heart attack. No family history, no diabetes, not overweight, non-smoker etc etc etc.
Anyway Tony was the one who convinced me to chase my dream and get the 997. He had a 996 cab for the past 3 years and loved every minute of it. Here is the link to his memorial website. Any of you that need a reminder of how precious and short life is should look at this site.

I don't know if he frequented rennlist or not but he was such a great guy.
Happy and healthy new year to all of you!!
