Should I Order the Diamond Package for my 997 S Delivery?
I am considering ordering the Diamond Package aftermarket add-on to be installed into the glovebox upon leaving the dealer and returning home to my garage. As I understand this package, I apparently pull my new 997 S into my garage and have the wife sit in the passenger seat where I receive the "I am very happy for you fake-like smirk" while she probably wonders what she gets. At that point, she opens the glovebox and there is a pair of diamond stud earings in a felt box with gift wrapping that I tell her is probably a gift from Porsche that comes with every new 997 S purchase for my household.
I mean, if I am paying one-half down on the car and financing the rest, should I just finance a bit more and go for the earings for the wife? How much are diamond stud earings? Like $5,000 - $7,500? Nothing gaudy or oversized, but not teeny rocks either?
I think such a surprise would go over well, but by no means at all is she expecting it. It just means it is that much less I am putting down on the vehicle.

The Diamond Package option? I was going through the options list in my head not being to recall that accessory. That's really funny ... and clever.
But I must say, Adam, that's very thoughtful of you to do. Not only will it be a small sacrifice, in terms of cash outflow, but it will buy you a ton of peace and happiness down the road. So in this regard, it's a wise investment! ... As they say, "A happy wife makes for a happy life!"
I think I'm paying now - and later - for not doing what you're thinking of doing. The wife wants a brand new house now, where she can order all the options and upgrades to her little heart's content. And that's just for starters!
Hey! ... Are you ONVESL yet???

It'll make her happy for about, 2 weeks. Until she sees another rock that she wants. Gotta love 'em. I guess we're the same when it comes to our wheels. LOL.

I think you should pay cash for them. Wearing diamonds that are financed seems a bit crazy.
Maybe take your wife window shopping around town and see what she reacts positively to and then go back and get it to put in glove compartment.

I think it would be even more positive effect if you could pull off the "window shopping" thing. I.e. get the bracelet, earings, necklace which she really responds to but "knows she 'shouldn't' have." I was lucky once and it worked well.

Classy move Adam,...I like the way you think!
Women will jump through hoops for diamond earrings (get it?).
Or to quote a really good Family Guy spoof on the "diamonds are forever" campaign,
"Diamonds,...because she'll have to!"
