Looks great. I'd add PSE and subtract the phone, IMO.

add the porsche crest in headrest. it's relatively inexpensive and looks good.

I decided against the porsche crest in the headrest precisely because of the advice of a number of the forum members. Yes, for $220 it's a relative "bargain" given the pricing of other Porsche equipment, but I thought the crest sorta defeated the (relatively!) understated elegance of the Porsche. I'd expect to see something like that more in a Ferrari.

Having said that, my salesman told me that he's had customers who've gone the Porsche Exclusive route and had the crest in the headrest done in COLOR. YMMV.

I don't mean to thread hijack, but I would love some feedback on the options I have selected for my new, soon-to-be ordered 2006 4s:

Either Metallic Black or just Black (can't decide)

1. Sports Chrono Package
2. Advanced Technic Pakcage, which includes:
Bose System upgrade
6 CD changer
Auto dimming mirrors
bi-xenon lamps
heated seats
3. Porsche head crest on seats
4. Stainless steel mufflers
5. Power seat (driver side only)
6. Sport Shifter
7. Performance Sport Exhaust
8. Black Mats – Porsche lettering
9. Painted Wheels to match exterior
10. Full leather package

Other options I am considering:

-various seating options - what is recommended? There are far too many seating and leather options!
-large aluminum look package
-lowered seats, I am 6'1" - is this recommended?
-adaptive seating, what is the difference between a power seat and an adaptive seat?

1/ I would not do black wheels against black tires and a black car.
2. I would not do porsche crest in seat, if people do not know its a porsche they are idiots
3/ I would do TPMS as soon it will be mandadory anyway
4. I would consider crest on the wheels to add a touch of color
5. I chose Basalt, however all is good, and I do not think you could order a bad vehicle

What country are you in? I thought bi-xenons were standard on the S cars, and I haven't heard about an advanced technic package in the US.

I am also getting black, but wasn't really aware of Basalt Black until I saw it in the catalog. THe Porsche configurator on the website doesn't have it as one of the available colors for some reason. Is Basalt black tinted with another color, i.e., does it look sorta blueish, greenish, brownish, etc., in sunlight, or is it basically black with microscopic silver flecks in it?

Basalt is black with lots of reflective flecks in it. It's very nice.

I know everyone seems pretty high on the Sports Exhaust but I guess I just don't get it. $2400 just to alter the sound? If there were even minimal performance gains, I could grasp it...

I just got mine retrofitted two weeks ago and I'm extremely happy with it. It's tranformed the driving experience of the 997S from great to fantastic. If possible, test drive a 997S with one and see if it's for you. If you do like it, I would order it (rather than retrofit it) because the installation costs add anywhere from $300 to $1200.

I'm 6'2" and when i sit I have a three inches aboe my head. I have the power seats and keep it lowered as far down as it goes. I don't see why you need to play with the seats.

Thanks Alan. Since the dealers seem to always be out of 997s, not to mention ones with XLF, I'm hoping to see one in the wild somewhere. Maybe a 997 with that option will show up at a DE soon. I would like to see what everyone has been raving about.

I agree, installing it later is not the way to go.

What's different about the sound in your opinion? Also, doesn't the computer change it from sport to quiet mode during some lower speed range (30 to 50 mph?)?

It sounds more clear and throatier (sp?) than the normal exhaust. Not to mention it is louder. I did the simple mod to make sure that the computer does not shut off the sound. You can really hear the exhaust as opposed to the normal exhaust which sounds muffled (no pun) in comparison. Don't get me wrong, the normal exhaust sounds great. The PSE sounds a lot better.
