Default One thing I love about the 19" wheels....

Its super easy to clean the inner rim. So much clearance the you can just wipe it with a cloth. Makes the wheels "glow" when the inner rim is also clean! That makes up for the harsh ride and the multi holed spokes that are a pain to get at. How's the clearance on the 18s?

The stock 18s on the 997 are just as easy to clean I'd imagine.

Get a wash mitt on your hand and just wipe them with the wash mitt slightly damp.

stock 18's are really easy to clean, just watch out for the "fins" (i'm not sure what they're really called) that stick out from the edge of the brake rotors. those suckers are sharp and I have the scabs on two of my fingers to prove it!

I agree about the car looking nice with the inside of the rims clean; I've never been able to get in there before so it's nice to have open wheels to do this with!

Yea, even on my 19's you have to be very careful of the brake shields, they are like knives. I've been cut before by them. I guess the smaller brakes on the non S makes the clearance the same. I just Zaino'd too, but Rejexed the wheels.

Megiars (sp?) just came out with a soft bristle brush especially made for cleaning rims and it works wonders and is really easy to use. And, it has an adjustable handle so that you can have it facing left or right. I washed my new 997 S after a 700 mi. trip from the dealer in Cincinnati and the wheels were really filthy. I sprayed them first with P2 wheel cleaner which loosened a lot of the brake dust when I hosed the wheels off and then used the brush and the soap I was using to wash the car to get the rest off. It really got in to all the corners and crevices. I've seen it in Girot's catalogue.

I am trying to do an exchange as well. Chances are we'll have to buy a set on Ebay

Default 19" wheels

See my thought about exhanging to 19"

First, you find a dealer not necessarily official who sells a used 997 carrera BASE model that is fitted with 19"

Ask him to exchange with your 18" for a price that you will agree.

second he will sell his used base 997 with the stick wheels, and you ll get your exhange for a minor cost.

Just imagine that the dealer will never make great profit from the extras like 19", so he will take your deal luckily as you ll pay him for sure an ammount of money that his buyer of the car will not pay,at least consiously..

Thats a good idea, now that all base 997 are in excellent shape,so are they wheels

What bothers me ,is if i ll loose in performance, like acceleration etc.

Does anybody have first hand experience with this upgrade?
