picking up my 997S on tuesday. Any inspection advice/tips?
Finally, my little baby will be here in 2.5 days. Any thing I need to look out for, before I drive it off the lot?
Thanks

Go through your list and make sure everything has been included. If you ordered the Bose system check to see if the correct mats have been supplied especially if you have the Cabriolet. Check to make sure they gave you good tires. The Michelin PS2's are my preference. Start your engine, listen to the roar and drive out of there. Good luck on your new baby, and enjoy.

What bothers me is on some cars the paint color of the bumpers doesn't match exactly the rest of the car. For example, ASilver cars the bumpers can be darker of lighter, a very small amount but once you see it you can;t stop seeing it.
Don't be too particular about body panel alignment, they're not always perfect, but they should be close.
Make sure you have a Porsche battery, and not one that they changed out. I'm not sure which one is Porsche though; does it say Porsche? I heard of this happening elsewhere.
Oh, make sure you have a spare tire, if it's not there get really pi**sed in front of alot of people in the rest of the showroom.

They were announced to dealers in Feb and are now just showing up in the cars. They are replacing the white folio that contained Roadside, selection and a few other misc sorts of info.
It's not a big deal but the metal box is sorta cool.

how do I get them to give me a spare tire? I thought the 997s only came with foam and a air compressor? do the old 996 spare tire fit on the 997s?
thanks for the great tips. Can't wait to pick it up this tuesday!

I guess it was a bad joke on my part. You have to special order a spare and jack ( I don't know the part numbers or if it is available in the US). I, like alot of guys, am miffed the car doesn't come with one. Though they will clear the brakes the 996 spare is an inch smaller in diameter. Better to get the 997 spare by bullying the dealer if necessary. Oh, you're gonna PAY for it; too late to get it for free?

Get promises in writing. No "gentleman's" agreements (i.e. verbal honor-based promises).

Check the alignment of the steering wheel. Mine was off a few degrees, insofar that on a perfectly level road, the steering wheel tilted just a few degrees to the right. This turned out to be a poorly aligned steering wheel rather than a suspension alignment problem, (and it was subsequently fiixed) but it was surprisingly annoying. Porsches are meant to be driven with precision, so a slightly off-center steering wheel is a bigger deal than it may sound like.
