...Porsche's got a new toy waiting in the wings...

Looks like we finally have a good spyphoto of the 997 GT3:

Default Autoweek Blurb

There is a blurb in today's Autoweek as well about the GT3.

Using the 997S engine would be a mistake given that many buy GT3 to avoid RMS.

Can I unbolt that wing and leave it in the garage? you know, bolt it back on whenever I decide to being it to the, ahem, track (yeah right).

So if I want that car, with the no-frills extra performance, I have to keep the wing attached because there's no "real" retractible spoiler which is effective at my illegal-but-not-insane highjway speeds?

I'm with MMD on this one. That wing need some serios work. I like that wing we all saw a few weeks ago on the black 997 much and much better.

Already saving, possibly an order for Christmas time, if I can.

Is that a couple of inserts in the rear wing, or just bits of disguise?

That's a disguised GT3. The wing is what they're calling their "new aggressive" wing. I believe it is still a prototype. Check here... http://www.autoweek.com/news.cms?newsId=102443

It's only got about 40+hp over the present "S" engine. Supposedly 400 flat. They also did away with the active suspension.

if they ditch the dry sump block for the GT3, does the car come with spare engines in case of track use? what a joke

The car pictured in the AutoWeek blurb is a 997S with Aerokit, NOT a GT3. Note the sunroof, S exhaust, rear parking sensors, and lack of an air intake at the leading edge of the front lid. I'd take everything they stated with a grain of salt, specifically the rumor that the GT3 will have a version of the S motor. (Although they're probably right regarding PASM.)

The one pictured in the links in the first post IS a GT3. (Horribly painted) .... I don't know what's up with Autoweek using an S picture in an article about the GT3. That wing is ghastly.... on both.
