This car belongs to Gary R. I asked Gary if he can send me more pics of his car, nice of him to email me some. I love the Guards Red 997S and planning order one sometime soon Here is a photo of Garys 997 with HRE 841R's, I wanted to see how it looks with these wheels on in a side view angle... I also lowered the car. It would've have been a better image if I only knew photoshop. This was done in Ulead PhotoEnhancer software and took me about an hour, talk about primitive stuff hehe... You will notice both wheels are not the same size , oh well... I tried my best!
Thanks again Gary!!!!

This little note came from the Porsche factory and went out to all dealers in 95 and I did not want to hurt the car or risk loosing warranty coverage . Since warranty is no longer an issue and you have a modification that lets you use 18" wheels safely did you not do all of this for cosmetic reasons .
Actually Sobe, I did it for performance. They're hollow-spoke off a TT, lighter than the 17s the car came with, and improve the handling. I would not purchase wheels simply for cosmetics. Anyone who thinks they have to make their Porsche look better for other people has their priorities all screwed up.

I think that TechArt intreduced springs made specifically for the PASM equipped cars.

I am tempted to lower my 997 but dont want the hard ride everyday like my 996 with hr spings....
Any ideas for lowering and still having a somewhat decent ride quality?

Sobe--Turbo wheels were made in narrow body (55mm rear) offsets--had em stock on my 97. You're caught on semantics.

Do not mean to be on your case but in 95 I wanted those wheels so bad that I ended up selling my 95 993 and getting a new 96 993 just so it would come with the twists and be done to factory specs under warranty . My friend at the factory also said the 18 " hollow-spoke on a 95 was just wrong and to get a 96 and just order them on the car so it would be right . Both of my cars were C4's but I do not know if that had anything to do with the warranty and offset problems with the 95 .
03-turbo911 I heard the same thing .. that would be great .. eek .

In any case, I would like to see the wheel weights on those 20s, I would guess around 25lbs. each, which is way too heavy for a performance wheel.

As a future 997 owner and current 04 Viper owner, I have a keen interest in this thread.
My Viper came equipped with Michelin run flat tires on 19 x 13 rear and 18 x 10 front rims.
The Michelin run flats are an absolutely horrible tire. The sidewalls and tread compound are to hard. I put about 500 miles on them before I swapped them out for the Pirelli P Zero Asymmetrical tire with HRE 545 R wheels.
I went with 20 x 13 rear and 19 x 10 front wheels. The diameter of the 20 inch wheel and tire is actually smaller than the OEM wheel and tire combo.
I also installed a set of aftermarket coil overs with Eibach springs to lower the ride height by 1 inch.
Both the handling and ride has improved with my current setup. The only regret I have is not being able to go with the Michelin Pilot Sport tires. At the time, they weren't available in the size I needed for the rear.
I do think the HRE wheels added a little bling, but not so much to be offensive.
