Problem with Tarett rear toe arm locking bolts on C2S

Hi all, has anyone successfully installed the rear toe arm locking bolts from Tarett on a non-GT 997?
The bolt Tarett supplies is longer than the OEM eccentric bolt. So the main problem is the header tubing is in the way, and the bolt is too long, so the bolt head hits the header tube and cannot be fit in through the toe arm bushing. This is specifically on my 997.2 C2S. Perhaps this is not a problem with other cars because the header tubing is at a different angle? Or maybe I'm trying to fit it incorrectly?
To note, I also tried installing the long bolt from the center of the chassis side, but also is too long to fit.
Pictures of the problem are below.
Appreciate any help, thanks!

Sorry, I used the RSS ones and didn't have an issue with install, but also don't remember any length differences.

I will find out in a few days. I have the same kit from Tarett that needs to go on to my 997.1 C2S.

I ended up buying a shorter length bolt at Home Depot (M12-1.75-90mm).
The only difference is Tarett supplies a 1.25 thread, so you have to get the 1.75 nuts as well. They're the same zync plated 8.8 spec.
After installing I think I understand why Tarett supplies longer bolts (100mm). The locking plates are 2x thicker than the OEM eccentric plates, and on top of that Tarett adds a thick split washer.
So an OEM length (90mm) bolt will not be long enough to safely reach the nut on the other side if you use all of Tarett's supplied parts.
I ended up not using the split washer provided, instead I used a regular thin washer and added in some blue loctite to compensate.
There's no way I could fit the 100mm bolt on my 997.2 C2S, just annoying to spend $100 on the kit and then still have to go out and buy correct bolts.
Hopefully your .1 is different and fits fine, GL!

I have the Tarett kit on my 2005 997.1 C2S, and have found it to be a great value in keeping my rear toe stable. Toe out can be dangerous.

I assume that you spoke with Tarett? Ira is very responsive and should have been able to work something out for you.

IMO, I would not trust a Home Depot bolt over one you would source from Tarett or another reputable supplier. The metric 8.8 marking does not signify actual certification to the ISO 898 standard. In my line of work, we were only allowed to buy from cleared suppliers (i.e., ones that could offer material certs).

Also wonder why you swapped out a lock washer for a flat washer. Will the next retightening include another round of Blue Loctite? If not, you got nothing. I doubt that anyone would reapply.

Why didn't you cut off the excess length threads?

Not trying to be a d**k about this, but you went about things differently than I would have.

No worries,
I e-mailed Tarett to show them the issue, just waiting to hear back to see what they say.
The split lock washer they supplied is very thick for the 90mm length bolt. If I used it then the nut would've been holding on just to the edge of the bolt thread and thought that unsafe.
I did think about just cutting the supplied bolt, but thought it might compromise the integrity of it so I figured it better to just get a new proper length bolt.
I see what you mean about the HD vs certified bolt supply, I agree. I'll see what Tarett responds, at least that bolt is in an accessible location that I could swap out relatively easy.

I assume you didn't have this problem with the 997.1?

I have a 2012 997.2S with the Tarett rear toe arms and locking plate kit. My installer didn't complain of this issue, so maybe they figured out a way to wiggle it into position. I can see how it would be tight getting it by the header.

I would try calling Tarett directly, if you haven't.
No, no problems with my install, but maybe the exhaust shapes are different? I have AWE headers. Are yours OEM or aftermarket?
The thicker the split lock the better - makes it stiffer and thus holds better.
Should not be an issue to cut off a bit of otherwise exposed thread on the Tarett bolt.
Thanks for your positive reply. I just wouldn't want to see you add a benefit that turns out to be a negative (by breaking or coming loose).
Good luck!

Hello Rhem213,
Send me an email at iraramin@tarett.com and we'll get you a shorter bolt.

Thanks,
Ira

I have OEM headers, thanks for the notes

Interesting thanks for sharing. Looks like then up on a lift shop workers can get it to work. Or who knows maybe my specific car is just a mm or 2 off somewhere.

I looked under my car today. .1 cars have much more compact header, so clearance is not an issue.

I would source high strength bolts from McMaster Carr or similar outfits, especially if this car will see track times.

Ahhh, so the .1 headers come out straight to the sides, whereas the .2 headers go forward and then off to the side. Interesting to figure out why that was done.
