Default Curved cover for the front plate

I tried searching but cannot find anything on this topic, happy to be pointed the right way if i missed something.

I have bit the bullet and decided to run a front plate after skirting Ontario law for 2 summers. At the rear I have a lovely black frame with a very lightly smoked plastic cover that both looks amazing and is way easier to clean than the plate itself. I bought another for the front only to realise, yet again, i'm an idiot because the front plate is curved. Does such a thing exist for the front OEM plate?

P.s I know I can go tow hook or whatever but i can't do offset, does my head in.

##Oh wait, nevermind, you're looking for the smoked cover. Why not just buy smoked cover, warm it up and contour it.

Front bumper plate bracket required to add a front US license plate, mounts directly to the bumper and features a contoured fit. This does require drilling into the bumper, it's a permanent installation.Comes with basic screws, some models may require different fastening screws/bolts which are not included.

Fits Carrera models/versions shown, 2009-2012.

Yeah looking for a cover, even clear, but a cover not the plate holder, I have that. One cannot contour a cover, it distorts and doesn't fit as the curve of the OEM holder is quite aggressive. I think I may have stumbled upon a new product idea.

I would strongly recommend not using the Porsche front plate bracket, I just replaced my front bumper cover because the previous owner blasted four large holes in it to mount the front plate holder.

There are aftermarket brackets available that either attach to the bottom of the bumper or include their own mounting bracket and they leave no visible damage if removed.

I can't do tow-hook, offset looks all sorts of wrong imho. There's the Carbonio one that is some $300 CDN which is a) insane and b) doesn't contour to the bumper so looks unsightly from the side.

My local 997 club has found a way to use the OEM bracket without drilling into the front of the bumper. Basically one drills two holes into the underside of the bumper and lines the rest of the plate with thick two sides tape. I am happy to go this route but want a contoured cover plate/frame for the curved oem bracket.

I've used the Skene brackets in the past, they're like $50 USD, but I think Sto N Sho around $100 USD is the more popular option recently.

Now that I think about it, I don't recall that my OEM bracket had any curve in it, it contoured to the bumper on the back, but the plate mounted flat. Good luck in your search I guess!

I like my Skene bracket. Very clean fit. Here is a picture from their web site. Use the very short bracket.

If space permits and there is no centre radiator, you can also attach it with Velcro. Holds perfectly tight, highspeed no problem! And you can bend it in shape.

A member of my local 997 group chat uses the weathertech cover, he says it has enough give in it to bend to the shape of the front plate frame. So looks like problem solved.

I'd just eat the ticket, the front plate looks whack. Especially if it's just a weekend spare car. I couldn't imagine drilling it, that comes off the resale.

Two issues there. A) It's beginning to affect insurance rates here when busted for no plate and B) If I get pinged for going over the speed limit I will have a much tougher time talking my way out of it with no front plate

When I purchased my 06 C4 the Front Plate was mounted like yours. Seems to be the best place(cosmetically) for mounting IF you have to use the Front Plate.
Here in Seattle, I have NEVER used a Front Plate on any of my 356/911/964/993/996 or 997's since 1986. Nice not to have to use one.
We also have no Emission Testing since 2020 - That was always a PITA having to de-tine my early 911's prior to the test so they would pass.

I looked at the install video and it's basically the same as what I will be doing with the OEM bracket, holes underneath the bumper.

I would think a person could easily fabricate a suction cup type of mount for the verticle area on bumper just behind the License plate therefore eliminating drilling holes - That verticle area in Black I believe is flat and smooth enough to adhere a suction cup to.
