Default Sale value of my 997.2 Carrera 4?

Don't worry, not planning on leaving the 997.2 family yet

But, my driving profile has changed in the last year. Was dailying the 911 but that was for a different, more 911 friendly use case. That has changed, so I am toying with the idea of selling, buying a more reasonable daily, then getting a 997.2 S or GTS MT coupe for weekends and track days.

Some basic info:

- 2009 Carrera 4 cab

- ~57k miles

- Notable options are full leather, PDK, sport chrono

- Driver's car but in good shape for the age and miles - no major or noticeable exterior flaws (i.e. scratches, dents), interior also in good shape other than some scratching from previous owner around the driver's side door handle plastic.

- Completely up to date on maintenance, including the major PDK service (both fluids), AWD controller and diffs, etc.

- California car, no rust or other issues. I even took off parts of the exhaust to do plugs and coils and didn't have an issue with a single nut or bolt. Shocking, I know.

- No accidents, clean title, etc.

Given the maintenance and initial purchase price, I am about $56k into this car but don't expect to get it all back. But, I am also willing to eat some of the hit, so don't know what's a reasonable selling price. $52k might be a stretch?

$45k to $50k

Post some pics!

Edit because I thought it was a coupe at first.

As far as Value:
2009 +
C4 +
PDK -
Cab -
57K +

Service records and condition are a huge factor.

I'd say an asking price of $43-$44 would be accurate considering we are approaching the fall/winter

Thanks both. If the value is closer to the mid-40s I'd probably just keep it. I bought in early 2021 for $50k (and then the $$$ for the major services and rear brakes and rotors), so eating nearly $10k in a bit over 2 years would be a tough pill to swallow. I don't dislike this car by any means so it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world!

Keep it for a couple more years. Things are recorrecting now post covid and possibly overcorrecting a bit, but 997.2 values will slowly increase over time again, especially the 6-speed ones. If it was a 6-speed it would be worth $5-$7k more

It's always tough to recapture service $$ that you have invested into the car. Same holds true for add ons like suspension/muffler hacks/etc.
That's why the PPI is important as negotiating tool to factor in services or repairs car will need soon.
There's a learning curve when buying - Over time you shop for cars that are well serviced and always keep in mind resale value. Something I learned years ago.
As a 1st time or new buyer, you could care less about resale because it's all new and exciting. Then after time of buying selling many P-cars you learn the game.

I would perceive 4 as a negative for price, at least when it comes to a base 4 vs a 4S.

I think the total opposite considering the "S" engine is more prone to Bore Scoring ---> The C4 is looking more attractive.
I've owned 3 997 C4S cars. The C4 Base rides/handles just like the C4S - Really can't tell a difference at all. C4S 30hp more and slightly larger brakes not noticable to me at all.

...... And the C4 Base has black gauge faces which I much prefer! Just like the aircooled 911's

I’ve driven a 997.2 C2 and C2S back to back when shopping for mine in 2020.

If I blindfolded someone, I really doubt they would feel the difference in acceleration/shove.

I couldn’t tell and I knew what they were, so even with the bias I couldn’t tell.

The fascination with the S is weird to me, especially since they share the same shell.

However that’s just my opinion.

I would get a 997.2 C2 over a 997.1 C2S, well I actually did.

I love my C4s for winter duties. I think there is a market for snow belt daily drivers. Personally, I would not consider it a negative at all.
