Mirror Actuator
For searchability and because I could find zero definitive references:
Mirror actuator (the part with the motors and potentiometers) VW part 3D0959578C for a Touareg bolts directly in to at least the passenger's side mirror on a 997.1 and functions correctly.
Parts breakdown says this is Porsche part 997-624-048-00 and they're the same left/right.

Replaced my passenger side recently. As stated, part is same for left & right.
