Short starts - car wash

Ok, in all seriousness, I do try to avoid really short trips in the car, and if I am going to wash it in the driveway I use it as an excuse to go for a 15 minute ride. You'll see others in the forum say you should never wash the car hot but it's never been a problem and even with a high pressure sprayer I've never had so much water in the engine compartment as to cause concern. I'll even admit to using the brush at the local self serve which could get me banned from the forum perhaps I also try not to start up, drive for 2 minutes, and stop for gas mostly to avoid 2 cold starts within a few minutes of each other, maybe that's also overkill. And I have pushed my car around in the garage on more than one occasion - I also have a sloped driveway so if I need to get it out there I'll just start it and move it and hope the 911 gods forgive me. At the end of the day it's a car I'm going to drive and put miles on and they are quite durable and easy to own.
Oh, and because Meteor Grey, I go a long time between washes

Yep, that's what I do - I take it out and go for a drive before washing, but afterwards I'm guilty of starting, pulling into the garage, and shutting off. Please burn some incense or something for me to make sure the 911 gods are OK with me as well. I'll pretend you didn't say anything about the brush at the self serve

I start it up and keep the rpm’s up to 1500 for a minute where there is a 50% increase in oil pressure to get things well lubricated quickly. After that I drive it , wash it or shut it off just because I can .
