5.9 inch color display in standard??? regardless of navigation? I can't believe that we are stuck with these screens that look horrible during the day. I was hoping for a "simpler" look, with out all this extra fruu-fruu.

Agreed. I'm hoping there's some sort of GT3 console delete option. (Hard to imagine a GT3 with a big color TV in the dash.)

I say this because my current car has the Nav(wich I never use). At first, I taught it would be pretty cool having a little tv screen. But during the day, it's nearly invisible. The glare is also pretty bad in night driving. It will also be harder to upgrade the sound system. What happens if it goes bad??

I wonder how many things are integrated into this screen. Porsche better not pull a BMW...

The PCM screen is standard on the S. I think you might mean froufrou, but you're exactly right -- these frills are a distraction and a symptom of a company that lets the wrong people make decisions about the product. I trust these frills will be fodder for the "delete option" chopper.

At least there are pictures of the 997 sans sunroof -- there is hope!

the screens are standard on all models

the navigation is now 'module' based, as in a very easy plug in, to enable navigation...

porsche is finally getting smart about these things...

like mercedes / bmw, now its a simple 'enableing' of navigation.

this way, they make it easier to retrofit, and decrease production costs by making all cars come with the basis.

bout F*kin time they did this...

now, if they could get AUX-IN into the MOST bus. that would make my day.
