Batteries in need of maintaining
Need a solution to a dilemma. First, what I think is the solution: A 12-volt battery pack or an inverter to use to maintain batteries for cars in storage. The dilemma: The storage facility we are currently using does not, and will not, provide an electric outlet. Up until now, I have tried to drive one car at least once every 3 weeks or so, usually bringing it home and charging the battery overnight. Now we have two cars in storage and I simply don't have the time to be a car jockey. Plus, one of the batteries is aging and needs more attention than I can give it.
One thought is a 12-volt battery pack that will somehow act as a maintainer. Another thought is a 12-volt battery pack that inverts to 120 VAC into which I can plug in a battery maintainer. I have searched for both of these with no luck. Does anyone have a solution to this dilemma? Been there, solved this? Thanks in advance. |
Would a solar battery maintainer be an option ?

How about a battery pack like this that you can take home and re-charge. Towards the bottom of the page they show other models with more capacity.
BTW, these have a direct output 12VDC port, no inverters needed. |
Unfortunately no, but thanks for the suggestion.

I seems that you can charge it with a solar panel or with an AC adapter.

Any problem with adding a top post battery disconnect to the ground side? |
You could remove the batteries from the car, store them at home and keep them charged. Then just bring the battery back when you need to drive it.

Just undo the battery -ve terminal while stored. When you reconnect it the steering angle sensor warning light will be on but that will correct itself after you drive it a bit.

Should be driving your car daily😉…no excuses…

when you do disconnect the battery, make sure to leave the frunk open. they operate electronically, so if you dont have battery, you have to go through wheel wall which is pain in the rear.
key fob or frunk pop from door sill WILL NOT WORK without battery. |
