997.1 Engine Oil
I tried the forum search and ……well to put it mildly, no joy. I have owned my 05 997 Cab since it was new. Some 18 years now. Been doing my own maintenance since about 2010 or so. I change the oil twice a year regardless of miles. I have always used Mobil 1. I see a lot of people are using Motul or Liqui Moly. What are the advantages to these other oils? Would it be wise to change what I have been using for 18 years. Never had any metal on the magnetic drain plug, or in the filter media. I have also always kept the level on the full mark as well.
Thanks.
Thanks.

There are literally 300 oil threads on here for 997s. Find the "Another used oil analysis" one for a lot of info in one place.

Also, do some research on what Porsche approves.... it is called A40... and why it may be deficient, particularly for a .1 engine. It is not that we don't want to answer your question directly, it is just that it is out there on these forums ad nauseam.
