You mean the cover in the frunk? If so, that video helped me:

I meant this cover...I pulled a little bit harder and it snapped off and I was able to install the orange loop and just inserted it under the DVD unit and put the cover back on. One day I'll figure out a way to remove it entirely.

I finally got everything installed and it all works, even the FM radio too! Thank you everyone that has contributed to this thread! It was super helpful in helping me understand how it all works. I plan to add the rear view camera setup once I figure out which one I want to go with.

i think the issue is feedback from the Bose amp. Slight white noise with a very slight tick sound. Anyone know if there is a filter or something for this? Could the most adapter be defective?

Default Reversing camera - dynamic?

Hi

Is the reversing camera dynamic ( lines move with the angle of the steering wheel) when fitted with the PCCM plus.

The DRL as I find out does nothing with the rears, so its pointless. I want rears on at all times, so in fog, dusk, dawn, rain, snow, whatever.. I am always visible at all times.
Its really stupid how car OEM's didn't do this much sooner, and only went that way due to legislation and only halfheartedly(frontsonly) at first
Having made my statement, I have turned them off and felt a bit nervous with not having them on ... I had a silver CRX back in the day and no one saw me until I put on the lights. With a white porsche, I'll just leave them on. Using the Schwaben tool I can turn it off and on ... are you not able to see an option for that via a diagnostic tool? My car is a US sold and imported to Canada, hence the DRL. I just assumed that they all had it in their system.

Mine does the same thing. I have an amazing aftermarket amp and since I connected the Bose rear deck sub correctly, I not only get the tick noise but it's followed by a pop sound (the Hertz amp kicking in). From what I've read, there really doesn't appear to be a fix. So I just start driving and the flat 6 masks it a bit

ik get occasional thump sounds. Like a bass. Like running over something..
Totally random. I think its a signals glitch on the most to the ASK AMP

Is there a way w/the PCCM+ to run CarPlay BT from your iPhone (w/o having to tether it w/cable)? I have a working MagSafe phone mount that I am happy with and don’t want an extra cable flopping around. Thanks for a reply.

Default Wire in pin 6

This is to retro fit a reverse camera, you can find them on Amazon or Aliexpress in various forms.
I would recommend something like this, for ease and clean install

You then only need a small hole for the wire, to mount the camera on the ledge above your license plate.
and drill the hole in the horizontal upside down bit of your bumper, so it never becomes an eye sore if you ever decide to remove the camera.

RCA signal goes to the fakra connector
But you need a reversing signal to the PCCM so PCCM knows when you are in reverse and need the camera.

That one has to be installed on PIN 6 of the white 6 pin connector :

Green wire on the corner near the blue GPS antenna is the reverse trigger

Apply 12volt and presto PCCM turns on the reverse camera view.

Complete diagram:

Option 1 Splice Reversing light in the rear (typically black cable blue stripe)
use that to power the Camera with 12v and send trigger back over the RCA cable to pin 6

Option 2 Pin 8 can be used to power the camera
When 6 receives 12 volt, it will switch on 8 for the camera power

This requires splice the cable loom near the fuse panel in the front , drivers side footwell
and send power back from PCCM to the camera over the RCA cable

To test
You have to perform the PCCM auto configure with camera powered and pin 6 triggered
During the autodetect, it will acknlowledge 'Rear view Camera detected" and after finishing the auto detect, from then on , each time 6 is triggered you get audible click as it switches over to the RCA feed
If no feed it displays an orange camera symbol, with trigger audio volume is also reduced when it switches over to the camera.

Wire snaking to the rear
Both 987 and 997:
go from back of pccm, snake via the center console to behind the front seats
In practice you might get this done without dismantling anything. the Center console verticable plastic bits overlap the carpet on the tunnel
But it is not bolton on in that area.. So you can pretty much stuff the cable up there as you go along.

997 and 987 differ for obvious reasons.
987 I suspect is the easier one of the because you can just go over the engine bay, inside the cabin.
Remove the 2 engine carpet covers, and you can snake it behind that, below the front engine lid, then over the top engine lid.
With a wire puller you can easily go around the shock tower and presto you are at the rear light.

I cannot comment for 997 not done it myself, but MYW has this thread to explain it :

Camera rear bumper install
997 report is you can install a camera without taking the bumper off
987 no such luck there is no access to rear of the bumper due to heatshields, it will have to be taken off to install the camera and wiring from the rear.
1 take off rear lights
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kuJXBGIZwg
2 remove rear spoiler
https://youtu.be/cclsxeDRjls
3 take off bumper
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1W3oVkyrolQ
It's great write for the camera installation. I am trying to install a reverse camera and ran into an issue. Pin 6 is blank. How can I make a wire stick in pin 6 that makes firm connection. It does not seem to have female pin part in it. Thanks.

Just installed the PCCM plus US 2007 997 Cayman. Watched the video and look at the DIY guide. I checked the fuse and looks good. Unit will not power on. No Bose or CD changer.

(Assuming this was a stock PCM or CDR to PCCM+ upgrade.. and not upgrade from aftermarket..) pull all connectors, check for misaligned pins and reinsert, making sure its straight and firm.

I have tried several times. I believe the red connector to the one with green and yellow is power. I have checked pins all looks good and straight

The pins seem off. The green pin does not have connection on the pcm side. The yellow wire has no connection. I am aiming the each wire should line up to the same color on both sides
