Exclamation Steering Wheel Adjustment Faulty - 997.2 Turbo S

Hey guys,
Recently got into a 2012 7.2 Turbo S and noticed that the steering adjustment is faulty:
- I can unlatch the lever fine
- I can move both up/down and forward/backwards
- When move the lever back into locked position, up/down is locked but forward/back is still moveable

Wondered if anyone has experienced this and if theres a fix that doesn't require a visit to Porsche!

Thanks -CG

Sounds like the steering column lock is broken

Had this exact problem on my 997.1. Porsche don't officially offer any sub-assembly parts for the steering column and so the recommended solution by the dealer is to replace the whole steering column assembly. Big $$$ for small problem.

I had noticed that some sort of gasket/o-ring had fallen out of the steering column at some point - so i'd guess the part that actually needs fixed is small but I'm not aware of anyone who knows a specific fix.

Thanks @danmoo - turns out it was a dried out mechanism due to not being used for a number of years, master tech said it was a fairly common issue and just needs re-lubricating and should be fine, working well now
