Winter tires/wheels sanity check…

I ended up buying what the owners manual recommended:
OEM wheels (used off eBay)
F 8x18 ET 57
R 10.5x18 ET 60
I’m going to get the Conti DW 06+ mounted. Probably better it worked out this way, it’ll be nice to have a thicker tire with all the potholes around.

I'm in the Front Range myself. I got a separate pair of 18-inch wheels for winter so I can do the swaps myself (basically Easter-Thanksgiving) and not put wear and tear on the tire beads. I went with 235/40 Michelin Alpin PA4s on front and 255/40s in the rear. My winter wheels were 8x18 ET52 and 10x18 ET65 respectively so 5 mm spacers in front and 18 mm in the rear.

I have an 08 C2 that came with 19”s. Wanted to go back to 18”s and bought a set of very good shape used OEM 5-spoke rims & tires (Michelin Pilot Super Sports) already mounted. Bought a second used (not pristine) set of 18” rims and put on Pirelli Sottozero dedicated winter tires. They worked well in snow and slush. Did need a second set of TPMS. I like the idea of being able to back and forth on my own. Had this in mind when budgeting for 911 purchase.

Of course, I literally just bought some other wheels this morning! Ha ha. Thanks anyway for finding that!

Something to think about: If you keep your car a long time, the cost of winter tires is $0. Yes, $0. Think about it... instead of burning up your summer tires, you are burning up a different set and the summers last longer. Over time, you burn up the same amount of rubber. The cost is the rims (get them used), TPMSs, and mounting/balancing. Then, when you don't need them anymore as I did when I moved south, I sold them off. Dedicated winter setups don't cost all that much.

Pete, do you have any advice for winter wheels that will clear the yellow PCCB calipers?
I don't normally drive my C2S in the snow, but have occasion to drive it when it's 30 degrees or less - wanted something (all season or winter) more suitable than my MPS4S.

Looking up the sizes those are available in, looks like you'd need to run a normal 235/35-19 front and go to a 285/30-19 rear which is a little narrower than the normal 295 or 305, but does keep the overall diameters close for the PSM and AWD (for if applicable) systems with the fronts at 25.5" and the rears at 25.7"
