So many buttons on that center console.......

The interior looks 10x better without that stupid clock-thing in the middle of the dash.

The steering wheel is very sedan like and the interior door handles don't have the flowing curves of the 996. The interior centre console is full of switches....and the double stitched console rim looks crap....................I'm glad I went for the 996 x50 rather than the C2s................Turbo x50 arrives in 6 weeks.

Exterior, I think it could "grow on me", fine. Interior, I'm having a tuff time w/ it. My first thought was "Cayenne" (no offence intended), fine for an SUV, IMO. But one probably needs to see it in person to be fair.
The steering wheel just does'nt work for me either, the more I look.
Just my .02 cents

The steering wheel is horrible. I hope that's an option (the optional Ugly Wheel).

Looks like it will be tough to delete the center console ala GT3.

If one can swap the steering wheel and delete the unnecessary crapola, the rest will be okay. Porsche is using such elegant steering wheels in its current lineup, it's hard to believe they'd take such a giant leap backwards.

Also, I don't think Porsche is going to win by going back to the 993 look - I mean, the gearshift looks very 993, but I think the standard 996 shift is much nicer.

I don't want to feel like I am driving some 80's Audi Fox!
I second that!!

Unless you drive a 356, then you're not a "real" porsche owner either. When the 911 first came out, the Porsche purists of the time didn't like it either, with slogans like "real cars have 4 cams" (thanks Moose). It's called progress.

Pesky: You're forgetting the best slogan from the 356 crowd: "Sure they made Porsches after 1965 but who the hell cares?"

Porsche has chosen to show "luxury" depictions of the cabin (to address complaints about the "entry level" cabin appointments of the 996) but this appears to be back-firing as customers look at the down-side of generic design and cost-based materials selection.

"Sure, they'll make Porsches after 2004, but I hope they make something to care about."
