Door panel issue

Door panel issue
I finally got around to chasing down a door rattle. Found the cause of the rattle very quickly. The material around a grommet has torn and the screw does not hold the panel securely and thus the rattle.
The material is somewhat like foam. Semi soft. I am looking for suggestions on how to reaffix the grommet into the material without pulling the door panel off. I need reinforce the material around the grommet somehow. TIA

Flexible adhesive might work, but could be hard to apply with the door card still installed. I have been chasing a rattle as well recently, but mine is up by the window switches and so far I have been unable to identify and correct it.

I see that that the perforations along the upper door edge has ripped. This seems to be happening to most of the 997.2's. This will cause the door tip to rise and can only be corrected from the inside the panel.

Good to know, thanks. On a positive note, the J-B Weld seems to be taking care of the door rattle so far.

This is what I meant that the tip of the door panel will pop up as the perforation detaches itself as time goes by. The perforation is there to help the airbag inside the door to pop out controllably in the event of an accident. The fix is to take the panel out, JB weld along the rip from inside of the panel.

I would suggest pulling the door panel and using fiberglass/sheet material & epoxy resin to cover that entire area where the upper and lower tabs are located. Giving strength to those areas and a better/more thorough job.

It may be a long shot that you have the same issue I had, but my car developed a buzzy rattle near the window switches last year during a 700 mile road trip. I partially "fixed" it by sticking a small piece of foam behind the interior door pull. When I got home I noticed a little trim cover about the size of a dime behind the door pull was loose and wouldn't fit tightly. So I removed it to see the screw behind it, which was secure and realized the trim piece itself was the source of the rattle. Left it off and fixed the issue.
