Default How do I add seat inserts (Houndstooth or Pepita) to my base 997 seats?

I realize there are companies that can upgrade your inserts on stock base seats but I am trying to get it done locally. I am fine buying the fabric but my local upholstery guy has probably never done Porsche seats. Is there a way I can save some $$ and remove/disassemble the seats myself?

-Can I easily remove the upper front seat center section? It seams ( upholstery humor) I can pull it out myself but I am not sure.

- is the front lower section easily removed so he can simply rip the seams on the center section and replace it with the fabric?

-Are the rear back similar to the front lowers?

Any advice/guidance would be appreciated.

Any upholstery shop that deals w high end cars should be able to handle a 997 seat.

The seats are pretty straight forward from what they told me, what was a pain and expensive was the door panels but I felt it really finished the look

I used OEM 911 fabric that I sourced from the UK

I really want to do the center sections of my base “comfort” seats in 911R houndstooth, however my car seats are ventilated.

Might still work, but not sure.

the uppers come out by lifting up and pulling out. Easy swap. on my 997 the bottom was one piece. so insert would have to be sewn in.

no regrets… I wanted the LWB abut really not practical for me and my back so this was less $ and a bit more unique IMHO so no regrets at all
they also seem to hold me a bit better than the leather

they are OEM GT3 parts from suncoast than the leather cover, door spears and pulls are from exclusive options.

wasn’t the cheapest set up but thought it was special and I frankly didn’t have much else to do during COVID

they are great on a hot day, they don’t get very warm/hot
Also kept the heating element so they work great in the winter.

My fabric is OE 911r so wasn’t worried about heating it
