there is still a little camo. They used silver tape on some areas to hide final light looks, etc... That looks like the other car we've seen posted. I think the final will be great. Can't wait to see the bigger variants! C4S, TT, GT-

I was speaking to Porsche sales manager on Saturday and he feels that the 997 will be a fairly short run and that we may not see many variants.

A recent Auto week article said that Porsche will unveil 12 new modle variants over the next 3 years, beging with the 997 and then "S" version, etc and ending with the 998.

Ending with the 998? Im curious to see what this 998 brings. I doubt its going to be the end of the 911 line as ive heard in some rumors. We'll see!

Maybe they will make another 944 type car. That was and still is one of my all time favorite automobiles.

I've read that the current 911 Carrera will diverge into two separate models in the future: the 911 and the Carrera.

The 911 will continue to be the 'traditional' Porsche sports car that it has always been (i.e. 2+2, flat 6, etc.) but the Carrera will be a mid-engined V8.

This makes sense with the introduction of the Carrera GT ... if we have a Carrera GT ... we will probably have a separate 'Carrera' model at some point.

Looks better than 996 but its like tossed salad.
Overall looks have hints of 959 and 993. But that front end looks like a very slightly flattened down version of the VW beetle (cover the rear end with your hands and you'll see it better)
I think if they change the front air vents to one without the horizontal braces it would look better

The two models thing makes sense. There was the Carrera GT 924 as well, and now this new Carrera GT. I always thought being 911 Carrera was kinda funny. I think it would be interesting to have a Carrera split off into a higher performance car and have the 911 stick to tradition. At that point, i could even see then lightening the 911 maybe, bring it closer to traditional performance roots. It wouldnt have to be the best model. What years are we looking at? 2010 ?

As nice as that would be, don't get your hopes up. Porsche barely recognises that they built the damn thing. Its a great car, and all Porsche, but if the 911 guys resent it, sooo does porsche. What happened to porsche as it used to be? you remember... "Quality will come 1st We will worry about numbers later" Porsche quote late 80's At least they made the GT3. I think the 993, aside from the 996 GT cars, was the last of the trueness of Porsche. 998 with a mid engine cayenne V8? a CONFIRMED sedan? an SUV? No more racing? racing? what happened? At least the 997 is looking like a nice car. the regular 996 is just not 911.

Well, just in case they are listening or reading this stuff, if they (Porsche) ever make another 944/951/968 class vehicle I promise to buy one of the first ones delivered. Promise.
