Quick update: Stopped by and spoke with Tim today at San Pedro Muffler. He saw the car and we spoke about the setup we are trying to achieve. He will be installing a Topgear center muffler delete x-pipe that a bought from a fellow Rennlister, and modifying my side cans with the Gundo Hack next week. I’m super excited and can't wait to hear how she roars after these exhaust mods. 🤟🏼😎

Update: Got the TopGear center bypass installed today along with 2” gundo hack. Wow. I’m super pleased with the result. The sound is still pretty tame in the lower rpm bands but has a nice aggressive growl when I get on it after 3500 rpm. Sound at highway cruising speeds is same as stock. Zero drone. I’m glad I had some pros do the install- they commented how it was a bitch to work on. Shop was San Pedro Muffler, cool guys and reasonable price. Shop owner is Tim.
As an aside, I used to have a very slight vibration at idle where I could see passenger seat back visibly shaking. The vibration is completely gone- car feels smoother at idle. I’m guessing the factory exhaust system was likely bolted up wrong or bolts torqued incorrectly at some point. My fear of added vibration at idle was actually replaced by the opposite results of a smoother feeling after the exhaust mods. Super happy with my choice to go this route. It also looks like the Top Gear center muffler bypass pipes are now back in stock for anyone wanting to go this route. Under $500 presents a good value.

I’m in San Diego and have run into the same difficulty (as it’s my daily and I don’t have another car sitting around to transport the cans). Shops I’ve talked to either don’t seem interested or would tell me it’s not worth the price for the labor to take them off and put them back on. Heck, one guy even told me he’s plenty busy with Priuses and catalytic converters and he basically does that all day now.

I recently bought an exhaust from them for our R8. Very happy with build quality and sound.
We have center muffler delete and "gundo hack" on our 09 Carrera. We like it.
Craig
There's a muffler assembly in there somewhere

San Diego here also. I have a pair of Gundo Hacks I used for about 5 months a few years back on my 997.1 sitting in the garage, any interest? They should be in great condition with no issues, just a wee bit too loud for me.,

I appreciate the offer. Might have to do a deeper dive, but I don't believe the 997.1 cans will fit on a 997.2 as the exhaust system is different and I am not skilled enough to make it work.

Gundo hack sounds good---> Fisters sound extremely similar to PSE which I assume is the result desired?
