I just chose my options as well…(Oct completion date) @bgoetz I hope you don’t mind but instead of creating another thread I figured I would share my experiences with FSI and my stage II 4.0 build here as well since our completion dates are right next to eachother

You are going to love those seats on top of your new rocket engine! While they are 'out' it would be a good time for a ppf wrap on the back.
Those look crispy and new! are they 991 seats?

i was lurking on the 997 gt2 seats on suncoast but never pulled the trigger...once they went NLA i got a case of the fomos and bought the 991 versions from Gert before those go NLA...

Looks like I’m on the same timeline too (R43 build for my 06 C4S).
Just chose my add-on’s - starter cable, starter motor, aluminum water fitting and transaxle service.
Keeping the PSE but removing the cats.
Other than the engine and an aerokit front bumper, my car will be stock looking.
Hoping to get a set of Bilstein b6’s with the Damptronics setup.
Judd and Jake are the gold standard, amazing experience so far.
Absolutely can’t wait!

Engine is out, it was incredibly easy, I will never be afraid of really doing anything with these cars. I used the YouTube video series from 997 Dad, they were great, if you are on here thanks a million for such great documentation!
A couple of quick notes/updates based on a couple of mistakes that I made:
- Drain the coolant first using the drain plug near the water pump, this will save a little mess
- You must remove the whole transmission bracket as shown on the videos, I thought that I could avoid a few bolts and unbolt the transmission at the mount, it won’t clear
- There are O2 sensor plugs on both sides, I got the ones on the driver side, missed the ones on the passenger side
- Be sure to fully disconnect the engine wire harness, I unplugged it, but it was still attached to a bracket
- You cannot thread bolts back into the car in an attempt to keep them organized, you need 100% of the space to clear the motor. I threaded bolts back into the sway bar mount and cross member holes to keep them in their spot and the engine wouldn’t clear the heads of the bolts, I had to remove them in a less than ideal spot.
I will soon separate the transmission and remove the exhaust and then off to FSI!

Thanks for the thread. Just got my car back from Jake’s last week. I have a 2006 997 C4 Cabrio, now with a Stage 2 Track Performer 4.0 engine. I’m keeping the revs below 5k during the break-in period but it does feel like a different car. I got the Soul exhaust as my cats were bad anyhow and with the valves open, it is ‘very loud’ and punchy. Closed it sounds and drives as it should but the torque seems to wind up quickly around 3200 rpm’s as Jake had told me when he drove it. Not sure what to make of it yet, but almost feels like a turbo charger kicking in and the car jumps out quite a bit but in a good way. A blast to drive so far and it really howls as you move the gears with exhaust fully open. What fun. I have photos of the build I think I can share if interested and can list the options I got as well if helpful to anyone.

bkbii good for you buddy!
Bet you can't wait for the run-in period to be over, so you can properly unleash the beast?
I wonder if the last 1000 rpm of the rev range will be as magical as only a boxer 6 can be - that's the bit I love the most about these engines, I'm hoping the FSI build retains it.
