Ive been reading some articles in the "German" magazines that still say the 998 is on track for a 2007 release as a 2008my car, but that seems a little too early. I dont think the 997 will be a 3-4 year run car, i think Porsche wants to SQUEEZE as much profits as possible (like the 996). Plus the 997 turbo is still like 2 years away and the 997 hasnt even been released yet. I think at the earliest, 2008 as a 2009 my car. The 997 is shaping up to be the NEXT 911 and not an inbetween car untill the "998" comes along. and 8 cyclinder power i dont see that happening at anytime. if they can get 400hp in the base carrera in the future and over 500hp in the turbo from the flat 6, i think they can more than compete with the competiotion comprised of 500-600 hp cars that weigh a ton.
