Here's some specs on transmission choices and why Porsche thought the manual would be dead by now
Porsche Engineer Predicts Manual-Transmission 911 Could Die by 2020
Globally, 78 percent of the seventh-generation 911 have sold with the PDK dual-clutch automatic, he said. The United States bucks that trend, however, with roughly half of 911 buyers choosing the three-pedal transmission.

Interestingly, this article in 2012 said 78 percent globally take the pdk but the manuals trended higher in the US.
What's unclear is the time period he is referring to. Is it half manuals vs PDK or is it a long-term trend that includes the Tiptronic? If its vs the PDK then there may be more out there than we think. If not, there may be same or less.

I think that article was specific to the PDK. In 2011, PDK's were still somewhat new and to some degree unproven, and so we need to use the Wayback machine to remember how they were perceived back then. Time has shown PDKs are quite different than a Tiptronic, and as others have commented the 991.1 manual was not like shifting a 997. They did feel vague, hence the increased take rate of the by then improved 991 PDK's.
Has anyone used the Pors9 website? Not sure what data you can get from it. Or if we could get a batch of 20 GTS vin numbers you could come up with some kind of data. Skewed I'm sure, but still something.

I wonder if Vinanalytics could tell us, they have all the build sheets. They could easily tell. Yes, someone would have to filter through a 1000+ build sheets but it could be done. Does anyone know who Vinanalytics is? Are they affiliated with Porsche in any way?
One other way is to simply post our GTS' here with Year, Style, and transmission. Maybe start another GTS PDK/6 spd thread as this one could get biased with just 6 speed owners following it because of the title. It would be a small sample size and could get skewed one way or another but at least its something.

Just guessing here again based on cars for sale but it almost seems as hard to find a 997.1 TIP as it is to find a manual 997.2. Difference is that the scarcity of 997.1 TIPS is not resulting in a price premium but instead in a discount to a manual 997.1. I'm in that fold. Wouldn't even consider a TIP so would obviously pay a premium for a manual vs. a TIP all other things being equal. That's how they're priced anyway so it's not like it's something that requires much if any contemplation.

In case it's helpful, I prepared the attached spreadsheet showing the North American 997 GTS builds, including columns for VIN, transmission, body style, year, exterior colour and interior colour / material. This information is available elsewhere, but everything I could find was a list without the data sorted into columns.

There's a fantastic chart from this thread (https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...ed-thread.html) that details and breaks down all 1,500 US GTS cars sold in the US. According to this chart, only 276 RWD manual coupes cars were sold in the US. Production numbers for the other variants in manual are included and below as well.

What a great list, as now we have actual vehicle records with their main options, many thanks. Who are my other two brothers/sisters? 54343 is me.
