Looks amazing. What year is your 997.2? 09? If so did you have to do anything else besides install the wheel and airbag?

SO AWESOME! Looks great.

And this exact setup would work no problem with a 997.1 right? Did you have any errors? Horn work? I was literally looking to do the same thing, but you did the extra step of contacting them GREAT JOB!

Yes, 2009. I did not have to do anything else other than swap the wheel and airbag.

I was fully prepared to at least have to turn the MF option "on" with my Foxwell but did not need to. My old wheel was a non-MF wheel.

Disconnected my battery
Waited 30 mins
Removed old wheel and airbag
Installed new wheel and airbag
Reconnected battery
Started the car up and horn worked!

The wheel will fit for sure but it is unclear if you will have to either re-code your existing steering module or get a new steering module altogether. Some folks, like me, do the swap and have no issues, other folks have issues. I was going from a non-MF wheel to a newer non-MF wheel so my swap was more straightforward. if you want to add MF or add heating, etc. I imagine it would be more complicated.

Thanks for the heads up about this option to configure through Suncoast. The wheel looks fantastic in your car.

I have a 2009 C4S 6MT with the mf wheel. I’d like to get the 991.2 GT wheel with mf plus heating if possible. Will be reaching out to Suncoast soon.

Thanks.

Charles @ suncoast is the person you want to ask for. I worked with him to configure my wheel and he was very helpful.

Thanks for the info. For the airbag, did you look for a specific one, or will any macan/991/etc work?

I was told by Luke @ Sunset Porsche in Oregon that any Macan/991.2/718 airbag would work and, indeed, an airbag from a 2017 Macan mated right up to the GT 991.2/718 steering wheel I got.

Sunset had the best price I could find. I was going to get the leather airbag but was told there was a 4-6 week lead time as it had to come by boat from Germany. The leatherette airbag, on the other hand, would take 2 weeks, so I opted for that version. It was cheaper as well. I think it was $805 and Sunset offered $50 off your first purchase. Shipping was another $70 because it has to ship via special hazard shipping, but that is true for any airbag you buy from one of the dealers. So about $825 for a brand new airbag and the leatherette bag looks absolutely fine with the leather steering wheel.

I wish there was a place to be able to order the wheel with the steering wheel controls and the airbag together instead of having to shop multiple places.

So about $2k for everything?

You certainly could order from one source. I just happened to find a better deal on the wheel at Suncoast and better deal on the airbag from Sunset.

Suncoast is not very transparent about part numbers and what does and doesn't fit so you kind of have to do your own homework a bit when dealing with them.

Just about, yes

$825 for the Macan airbag
$995 for the steering wheel (I configured it with Charles to be a manual spec so it came without pdk paddles, with the black center trim, and with silver MF trim).
$105 for the non-mf satin black trim (left, right, and lower trim)

I contacted Charles at suncoast and got the parts ordered for the conversion. It ended up being the wheel, 3 pieces of trim and a rear cap for a manual transmission car. I asked if they would assemble the wheel into a manual trans configuration, and they said I would need to do it, so ill report back once the wheel arrives. I also got an airbag off ebay, so it might be a couple weeks before I can actually perform the wheel swap. Thanks for all the info, lets see if it all works for my 09 c2 manual as well.

Mine came with the manual rear cap in place but I did have to swap out the silver MF trim for the black non-MF that I wanted. It is very straightforward to swap all of the parts out on these wheels, doubt it will take you more than 10 minutes to assemble the whole thing.

OK so working on this conversion today, and even though my airbag doesnt fit (another topic), did you also order the back 3 trim pieces, or are you running with the heater button on the bottom back, and then having the gaps where the MF switches used to fit?

Thanks!
