Go with your gut is my only advice. But I will say I absolutely love my DD e90 330i (has nearly every option except idrive, auto, and awd = perfect). I bought my first Pcar last year, 09 C2S, and it really is a special car too. But even after upgrading my fun car to the 997, I still really enjoy the e90 and the build quality, especially compared to previous 3 series generations. I would seriously consider buying a low mileage 09-11 328 with the right spec just to stash away for when my 330i needs to be put down. Kind of interesting to see the number of people that have or had the same types of cars you do... it's way more common than I would have thought. In summary, its not an fun to drive as my e30 or 997 but has everything I want in a DD.
My dilemma is more so with my Porsche... I took over 2 years to find my 997 in the spec I was looking for. It's a great car and I've done some little touches and maintenance to make it my own. But someone in my head keeps screaming GT4 or GTS 4.0L. Told myself I'm not making a move until I get more seat time with this 997 but the trend of rising value is hard to ignore too.

In many ways, they couldn’t be further apart on the spectrum of cars but I love both of them.
They cover all of my needs and are so different to drive that they both are a joy to use.
Fun fact, they’re also really good at holding value. One of them might even go up.
I agree that you should keep the 328. But if you're itchy for change, consider an e92 335. I had a 2010 335is DCT coupe. Tons of fun, and surprisingly reliable for the 8 years I owned mine. DCT was way better than any other Tip-type deal I had touched at the time. Disclaimer: I would have required 6MT, but the DCT PO sold the car to me at 3,500 miles eating 14K in depreciation for 6 months of ownership. I couldn't resist. Turns out I liked the DCT, especially for my DD and pre-COVID stop/go commutes.
If some dickhole hadn't hydroplaned into it resulting in it being totaled, I'd still have it. But in that scenario, my 911 dreams would have been delayed... so all's well that ends well.
Thanks for the all of the advice! I think it confirmed what my gut is saying and that is to hold off. Every day I hold off is $ in the bank and who knows the more rare these NA straight 6 examples get it might even appreciate. At the end of the day I should feel fortunate to have even one of the cars I have, we all should feel lucky, sometimes it is easy to get caught up in things and want more/better. The right next car will find me and I will know when it does.

Good move, I think. In the end the most precious cars are the ones that either start or end a particular vehicle design cycle. The 997 is one of those cars and so is the E9x M3 with its F1-derived V8 engine based on an ultra-high revs design principle. Had an E90 M3 and still miss that car; went cross-country with a family of four and also did some 60 track days all in the same configuration.
We had a e90 335i as the wifes car - great engine, much cheaper to upgrade the suspension than the 911,
Sad to see it go but the kids got licenses and putting a 16 year old in a 300 hp car got a bit pricey on insurance

Mine left me stranded twice and that’s not counting the time I had a coil pack fail 150 miles away from home at 9pm and I had to limp into an Autozone and borrow tools to fix in their parking lot.
I kept loving that car, showering it with praise and attention (maintenance), and like a crazy girlfriend only to have it turn on me and the worst time.
After 3 years of an up and down relationship I parted ways.

Our family car hauler was a 535i GT. Ugly as hell but lots of space and LOVE the hatchback design. I could easily throw a bike in the back.
That car was totaled and we ended up getting an Audi A7. Threw some mods on it and the 3.0T supercharged motor (its a 2012) is quick. Again, I hatchback.
I think an Audi would be a perfect choice. Get a newer turbo S5 and you get power, AWD, a hatchback and 4 doors.
I'll echo what was said earlier. If you want a 997.2 GT3, buy one now. There's a guy in the 997 GT3 forum contemplating a 997.1 GT3 for $106k, and apparently that's a good deal now because prices have risen so much at the end of last year. I paid $20k less than that for my CPO .2 earlier last year. And yes, you can get them CPO still. So prices are skyrocketing. Get a Seasucker. My 997.2 GT3 is my only car.
I would get a model Y for practical reasons. Low maintenance, all the digital pros,,,albeit some cons also. Seats more people than a minivan, Hauls a ton of cargos with the back seat down, including your bike is no problem. High resale value.....etc.... You already have a 911 as a serious fun car and a EV will serve its purpose and you have the best of both worlds. Just my 2 cts.
