I have a question.
I have the PSE, when I press the valve button, light goes off and valves open.

However, when I driver her spirited, the light comes on and off and I can hear the valves closing and opening again.
Is this normal? Or is my valve control not working as it should? Shouldn't the valves be open all the time?

Here's a short video I took, please do let me know because I'm also considering pulling the vacuum plug and having them open all the time.

Note, I have a modified exhaust but previous owner retained the factory PSE system.

That's normal. In Sport mode, the car will still manage the opening and closing of the valves. It closes them at lower RPM to shift the torque curve down and then as RPMs increase opens them for a more free-flowing exhuast and higher HP. The PSE when working correctly gives you the best of both worlds - more torque when you want it and more HP when you want it. Those who disconnect the solenoid so the valves are in sport mode all the time miss out on that little toque bump.

I have a 997.1 with standard exhaust. I am planning on installing an aftermarket exhaust where the sound is also controlled by valves and a solenoid, but not original Porsche. If I buy an OEM Porsche console with the exhaust button (this one) would your kit still work with a system like that? I would prefer not to use a remote control and I like the OEM look.

Of course, an aftermarket exhaust will work just as well if it has the same mechanism as the OEM. And Type 997.1 console switches also work.





The Akrapovic titanium exhaust on my Audi R8 was originally remote controlled, but now it can be controlled by this PSE control kit.
