Sorry danlef, don't know much about the Tip other than the basics. The good news is that Porsche has not deliberately withheld info on the Tip like they have with the PDK so it should be out there and available.

IIRC, the Trip is actually designed and made by Mercedes B and is used by numerous manufacturers. YouTube has many maintenance and DIY videos for the Trip and the shops and dealers (Porsche or MB) will work on them. Information and parts are readily available ……..unlike the PDK. Trip is not an automatic manual like the PDK, but It is still a very good, reliable, traditional, hydraulic torque converter automatic transmission. I think the Trip is still being used in the Cayenne.

2.9 transmission on a 3.4 s cayman
Hi, is it possible to install a transmission that came off a 2.9 engine on a 3.4 cayman s? Are the electronics compatible? I imagine the gear ratio is different but is ok to me as long as the car will run. Thanks

I believe you need to swap the stub axles and the gearing is slightly different. Other than that it should be a direct swap.

I was kinda wondering the same thing. I have a 2010 Panamera Turbo with a 7 speed PDK transmission that will need replacement at some point and I was wondering if it were possible to swap it with the newer 8 speed Panamera PDK transmission? I dont know if it has the same bolt pattern as the 7 speed or if the electronics would adapt.

Agreed - we have done 3 of these repairs now with the T-Design unit, with another car on the way to us. Happy owners and saved a bunch of $$$. One car had 15000 miles on it but out of warranty.
UPDATE: So after a lot of discussion over our odd 5V reference issue, I can happily report that it was indeed resolved with a new sensor pack from T-Design!
After being traced to an internal short to ground, we performed the replacement, after which the actual values for the sensor pack were immediately back to normal followed by a successful calibration of the PDK on the first attempt. The 991 in question was repaired weeks ago, after which an extended test drive of several hundred miles was performed before releasing her back to her owner for the long drive back to Texas (car was shipped to us in FL due to a mutual friend).
I just wanted to sincerely thank PV997, Vlad from T-Design, and everyone else involved in this mission to resolve PDK issues without the unnecessary full replacements that so many have faced in the past. I'm personally looking forward to helping as many owners as we can with proven solutions for their specific failures, as opposed to making the previous dreaded phone call for a simple sensor failure. Keep up the good fight!

Absolute gold! Thank you for your time, effort and comprehensive information. I've been lucky enough to find and purchase my first Porsche. A997.2 PDK SC and have found I need some learning to drive her well. Knowledge that my abuse of the PDK would not always end in expensive replacement has added to the security of enjoying her properly. I'm almost looking forward to taking the job now!

Error code p2789 - clutch adaptation - adaptation limit reached
Hi, I have a 2015 Porsche macan S with 115k km on it and the car is delay shifting when stopped. It doesn’t happen at every stop but when it does it will take 5-10 seconds to start while the engine revs.
Dealership said there’s an issue with clutch #2 and error code p2789 is showing and the only solution is to replace the transmission at a cost of $23k.
Any ideas how we can DIY or what the problem could be? I started working from home once covid hit and have only been driving the car 2-3x a week to run errands the past 2 years so dropping this kind of money on a repair is heartbreaking.
