Daytime Running Light Conversion for 997.1
Thinking of upgrading the front lights for my 997.1. Has anyone had had any experience between this $500 unit https://delreycustoms.myshopify.com/...running-lights and a $230 https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Porsche...QAAMXQJ3xRdVSQ

I'd like to replace mine due to fading on the outer plastic lens.
Never been a fan of the LED lights but I think the choice that Khloesdad shared seem to be a better choice.

I have that style on my RUF 997. Like the look a lot better than the originals and I've wired them to use the parking light section of the light as my DRL rather than the fog light section and the perimeter parking light portion on these is much brighter than on the previous style.

I also like the driving lights on these. Very bright and cancel when the turn indicator is on. Very modern touch. Turn indicators are also very modern look.
Unlike some aftermarket turn indicators, no load resistor needs to be added here.

Another quick question
Does The light switch must be turned on to parking for the daytime lights to turn on? These dont come on once the ignition is turned on like modern daytime running lights, right?

Correct, in stock form, they don't come on at all. In Canada where DRLs are mandatory, the 997.1 uses the headlights as the DRLs. To get these types of LED fog lights to function as the DRLs, you either need to do the $2 diode DRL hack or wire them up with a relay. With the hack, and the headlight switch in the Home position, they'll come on whenever the ignition is on or if you move the switch to off, they'll stay off I'd you don't want them to do that.

I bought the less expensive lights on ebay and LEDs starting failing in 6 months. Seller would not replace. Do not buy from "racing_gear". Now looking for a suitable replacement. Would appreciate suggestions.

Seems like all the lights of that design are the same and may actually come from the same plant. We've had the same set of those on my wife's car for probably 6 years and over 50,000 miles and haven't had any issues with them. I do like the newer style better, like those I posted on my silver car and if hers fail at some point, I'll replace them with a set of that style. Her car also has the $2 DRL doide hack done to it so the fog light LEDs in those assemblies are on 100% of the time.
