Default Terminal Illness and and a request

I purchased a 2010 997.2 S as a hobby or my son and myself. I was recently diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. My son and I were talking about things we both enjoyed doing together and working/driving the Porsche was one of the top things. The KY PCA is a great group of folks and their support and fellowship has been fantastic. My request is the following. My son will soon take over my user ID. I ask that when he posts questions that each person responding is patient and guiding in their responses (I know that you will). He is going from a position of being a kid to one taking on a ton of responsibility and is a great young man. If some of this does not make sense I am sorry, between the tumors and the meds things get a little out of whack.

Thanks and bless you all.

This group of guys will treat your son better than if he were Ferdinand's first born.

In the meantime make the most of your life by spending it with your son and loved ones.

We will be here for him.

Update - Normally every day, I am happy to take my son into Montessori so I can work, exercise, get some 'me' time.

Not today. We're going to take a ride in the Porsche, swim in the lake, take a nap and let him eat pizza and ice cream. He may not remember this day but I will.

Hopefully everyone here can clear their schedules and get some we time with their sons, daughters, and loved ones as soon as possible.

Thank you Moxy for reminding us that the greatest gifts in our lives are time and love.

MOXY, I am sorry to hear of your situation and truly hope for the best, least traumatic outcome. I'm sure, based on 50+ years in the Porsche community. that your son will be well cared for and carefully guided as he continues his Porsche journey that you both share. This board and most other Porsche and PCA members I have interacted with are thoughtful. passionate, and helpful people who care about each other and our pursuits.

Best wishes and prayers for you and your son. As was said above, "We will be here for him".

Moxy - I am so, so sorry to hear that. Its hard to know how to reply to something so devastating. But your post has made me understand why we all are so passionate about these cars. It's about the memories you make with the people you love.

Fight hard, keep us posted, and rest assured your son and car are in good hands.

Wow, this is terribly sad to hear. I can't imagine what you and your family are going through. This community will be here for you.

I was just thinking last night after taking my daughters out to dinner in my 911, how fortunate I am to have this time with them and sharing these types of experiences. It's great that you and your son have that bond.

All the best to you and your son.

God bless you Moxy. None of us know when, so maybe that is a blessing of some sort. We'll treat your son well. In all my years here, I have found that Renny is truly a family for those who invest in it. And while we start with the cars, as enthusiasts, we share that passion and many others as well.

Moxy, my thoughts are with you and your family. Enjoy your time with your son and your family and know that he will have those memories of bonding with you enjoying and working on the car together forever, make more memories, as many as you can.

I have daughters and we enjoy spontaneous 'let's get an ice cream in the Porsche' evenings in the summer, taking then to a track day is a great memory of mine. Your time with your son must be just as precious, enjoy making those memories.

This forum is one of the best I have found with members being fellow enthusiasts who are here for their common enjoyment of our cars. We will look out for your son and treat his as he were our own.

Moxy, Our prayers for peace, comfort, strength and well being are with you during this difficult time. Creating great memories with family and friends makes life that much more joyful and meaningful. I hope that you can make many more great memories with the time you have. It is a reminder for all of us that time is precious and what we chose to do with our time can make all the difference not only for us, but for those around us. I have always looked to these forums as a place to find common bonds, friends, wisdom and a good laugh here and there. This is, for the most part, a good bunch of car enthusiasts haha We welcome your son to the club and wish you the absolute best moving forward. God bless you and your family. We are here for ya!

Yeh. thoughts and prayers from myself as well. Unfortunately, just lost a friend to that horrible disease. I broke bread with many times, over on Lat-g, Greg Weld, great guy. Stay strong, smell roses, need to remind myself that everyday, cause I don't.

Wish you prosperity and health in your battle

Mike
