Rear Emblem

I recently returned my Basalt Black 08 C2 rear deck lid to stock which required the purchase of an OEM lid that had to be painter and emblem removed. Typically I shave the emblems off my cars but after driving the car the past month or so am contemplating having a rear emblem put on the car. With that said, looking for input on whether to go with the factory silver Carrera, black Carrera, or the 911 badge. I know this topic has been discussed in length so apologize for yet another post but am hoping to get input or even picks from other members with a similar color that can help me make a decision. Thanks!

I'm not a huge fan of the 911, looks too small to me. If you have silver wheels, silver script. Black wheels, black script.

My perspective comes from a pair of meteor grey, one mine, one my buddy's. I'm silver/silver. He's black wheels/silver badge. After a quick plastidip of his script to make them black he's looking at replacing the badges.

I considered debadging entirely, since I also like the clean look on the rear. But I ended up going with the 911 badge on my C2S Cab and am pretty happy with it.

I've been thinking of swapping to a 911 badge. How hard is it to remove the Carrera badge, and does anything get scratched when doing so?

Start with a clean car so there isn't dirt on the rear decklid. Take a piece of the string style dental floss or fishing line and saw it back and forth underneath the badge, then remove any of the trim tape left behind, and clean up the area before applying the new one. Nothing will get scratched.

I wonder, in addition to the above, if it would not help if you also applied Goo Gone (or some other aliphatic hydrocarbon based compund, e.g. WD-40 that won’t damage the paint) around the badge area as it would help break down the adhesive.

I originally had the carrera script. Then removed as I wanted a clean look but then felt it looked odd without. I wanted to update to newer models with Porsche logo. Thought the spacing was not wide enough like newer models. Now I have the 911 script.

While I haven't done this myself - getting the car/emblem/adhesive to heat up in the sun prior to doing this seems like it might help, especially if the adhesive is very old.

I find 911 to be too small, as if something around it fell and was never replaced.

all measurements + methods can be found here to do this job and having it spaced/curved/straight like oem.- https://rennlist.com/g/album/3372540

Looks nice, maybe just me, but for some reason, I still think the original badging looks good on the 997.

I completely agree....I don't dislike the other options people have posted (the blue car with the 911 and red S looks particularly cool), but I do feel like there is nothing that really beats the original. It just looks like it fits the car just right.

still looks good.

I add a crest to the rear of all my Pcars and respace the emblem script so they look good together. Some like it - some don't.
