Which Direction Should the Wheel Cap Crest Point
I started a long conversation at a Cars and Coffee a couple of weeks ago. I basically asked which direction the point part of the wheel cap crest should point. I had always heard that it should point toward a lug nut.

I think the idea about the crest pointing to the valve stem was for pit crews to have a quick visual aide. When I use locking lugs, the crest points towards the stem and the locking lug.
I do not have a close up but I just like little details like that. I don't think it really matters overall. IDK if you can see it in this pic. but I do it just because I like the motorsport reference. I also noticed that certain shops will just do this if they remove your caps, which I think shows attention to detail and care. Here in LA, both House Automotive and PRO Motorsports have done this with the crest and the locking lugs without my asking.

I always point it at a lug, then use it as a reference point when I torque my lug nuts. I always start at the lug that the Crest points to.
If a shop took the time to align the crests a certain way, I would appreciate it. It's like the screws on an outlet or switch cover. I wouldn't give an electrician a hard time for not aligning the screw slots the same way, but if he did, I would automatically assume that he was careful and had a great attention to detail in other aspects of his work.

So ... Do the screw slots end up vertical (to shed dust) or horizontal?!?!
BTW ... As an aside three prong outlets get installed "upside down" in labs so if something falls between the plug and the outlet it will hit the earth prong rather than short hot to neutral. People look at you weirdly if you do this in a home
Sometimes the little things can matter. I'm looking at these outlets and am becoming annoyed with my sub standard work 8(

^^^^ Thats some proper cable management. I work in telecom labs and from one side of the Atlantic to the other I never get to see cabling that looks like that.
