Default TURO Car Rental - Would you do it?

I was looking into this new Car Rental company and noticed that around Raleigh, NC there are a few Porsche 997.1, BMW M3 and Tesla Models for rent.

https://turo.com/us/en-us/car-rental...rchId=0c4zF8rn

Sounds like a good opportunity to try different models that you may like to drive.

Now, the question is: would you place your car on Turo, for others to drive?

Me?....... Not a chance.

Yves

I would put a car I own on Turo. One which I had purchased specifically for that purpose or with the possibility of that use in mind. Not my 911. Probably not a 911 at all. A Boxster or Cayman with PDK, definitely.

From a renter's perspective it is great and I suspect that you enjoyed the cars and respected them. But many others would abuse them.

My friend Turo's his BMW X5 and 3 series convertible. Both cars have pending insurance claims with Turo. I wouldn't even give it a thought.

Here is one Porsche owner who Turo'd his car.

I have used turo for rentals dozens of times. I would never put my car on there. No one cares for your possessions like you.

Unhappy

lol, I don't even let anyone drive the car that isn't someone I know who has had proper sports cars previously. The last really insane HP/TQ monster car I sold, I drove the guy on a test drive and only after a deposit let him test it. This might have made the car harder to sell but he also slaughtered a deer and the front end of the car within a week, so my intuition seems justified.
Where I live (ACH/GMR/Mulholland...), and where my parents live by Tahoe, if you are ripping around and don't know what you are doing, lots and lots of stuff can go wrong. I think 4 911s have gone off ACH in the last 6 months from my recollection of the news stories.

before

after...yeah, that's blood.

The guy was a competent track racer driving incompetently on a public road (with deer).

When I was single I thought it would be cool to have a beagle puppy rental.

You'll meet a lot more girls with a beagle puppy than a weekend Ferrari rental from Turo.

Ferrari starter conversation "Don't touch the car"

Beagle starter conversation "You can kiss it as much as you want"

LOL, so true! I adopted a wayward Beagle for a week in college; he ran with me and followed me everywhere. What a girl magnet! I eventually found his original home, but it was a great experience. I have never been so popular!

Bad idea. Having been a landlord for vacation rentals I can say unequivocally, do not rent your Porsche. People will treat your stuff like crap and break things.
