Default FF1 shifter **** for 997

Greetings everyone,

I own an 06 C2S, 997, with a stone grey interior, arctic silver. I’m toying with the idea of replacing the stock shifter **** with a silver FF1 shifter ****, with the black 6 spd shift pattern:

im writing to ask if anyone here has made this switch and, if so, are you happy with it?

Thanks in advance,

John

I ordered one based or earlier reviews. It's back-ordered, so I won't be able to post my impressions yet.

Please do when you’re able to. I was told it’ll be another couple of weeks.

I have one. IMO, it was a nice addition. It is very well machined and has a nice weight to it, again, IMO. I track my car so I went with the taller **** which of course decreases, a bit, the distance my right hand must travel from the steering wheel to the shifter. BTW, I also got the beer bottle opener he makes in the form of a shift ****. I love it...just align the embossed shift pattern on the **** so that you remove the bottle cap with a good clean shift from first to second gear! (Or maybe third to fourth.) Always amuses guests.

I've had one for a while. It is solid black with a white shift pattern - I'll try and remember to post a picture. I think it is a big improvement over the OEM unit and have not encountered it ever being hot while parked in the sun.

I have three Function First *****! One black aluminum with shift pattern engraved, one black delrin also engraved, and most recently I bought a silver one then had it stripped and re-anodized locally (in orange to match my powder coated orange calipers).

The aluminum gets really hot in the sun, so I swap in the delrin when I drive away, then swap the aluminum back in later.

I was on the fence for one of these for a bit. My wife later ended up getting me one as a gift which was pretty cool.
My initial impression was extremely good - well made, the feel is great, and the little adjustability is awesome. Having owned it for almost two years now I’d say that the only gripe I have is the temperature related issues. I’ve got ceramic tint now so the hot isn’t too bad actually. However, in the winter that thing takes forever to not feel like an ice cube.
With all that said, I would highly recommend it. It’s a lot for a shift **** but I would buy one again. Or...have my wife get one for me again.

I received my FF1 shift ****. (Never mind the light reflections from the **** in the picture.)
I like it.

I spent several years with a gt2 rs shift **** (red alcantara, as it matched my guards red car) and recently switched to the original factory **** that the car came with.
I have to say that I actually liked the original shift **** better than the gt2 rs. I think it has something to do with the metal finish in the original.

The FF1 is all metal and feels even better! I really like it. Well built. I like also the slightly cold feel to it.
I'm still using the gt2 rs boot because of the red stitching but I may try to get a black leather one at some point.
