Picked up my first Porsche today
So today I picked up a 2009 Porsche 997.2 CS with 42K miles on it. Original sticker was $116K so it's heavily optioned except for the sports exhaust which can be added. I have had BMW's. Lexus', and a few other's but I have wanted a Porsche 911 since I was 15. Life and family have finally aligned to where I could start looking for my car. I narrowed my search to either a 991.1 or a 997.2 CS. The 991's with the options/miles desired were out of my price range. I decided to look for a 997.2 CS heavily optioned, well maintained with an owners/maintenance history I could trace, and with less than 60K miles on it. After looking for several months I found this car locally through a private party and paid $53K. My unicorn was a manual, 35K miles or less, one or two owners, with meticulous service records, meteor grey, blue, or the color I have , which is GT Silver and looks much better in person than in pictures IMO. Prices on my unicorn seemed to be $60K plus. I have no regrets and am really happy and excited with my purchase. I have a few posts but look forward to being part of the Porsche community and learning as much as I can.

Very nice. Looks like a new car. Unusual to see an S car with a black gauge cluster. Silver/white or whatever they called it was standard so either it was ordered this way or the previous owner swapped.

Yea I noticed the black gauge cluster right away and really liked the way it looked in person. I have a copy of the options list and the guy ordered them new. Going through the option sheet was so cool because the guy literally ordered every option I would have if I was wealthy, ha. I really love all the leather, he even ordered the map light cluster piece in leather. The adaptive sports seats are fantastic. As mentioned the only option not ordered was the sports exhaust but at least that's a simple fix.

Well done. You will be encouraged to swap out the steering wheel for the one with paddles but in my year of driving a C4S PDK I only played with them a few times. The PDK knows way better than you or I or any 'expert manual heel and toe' guy where to be. The more you drive it the more you will appreciate PDK for what it is and what it does.
Focus on ensuring all of the time and maintenance items are done then worry about 'upgrades' and cosmetics.
Lots of good help here in this forum.
PS - nice solid car.

One of the wisest advice ever.... too many people do it with their priorities all ef'd up. Your dream did finally come true, so before making it look even better, be happy that you finally own a 911, spend wisely and stay on the safe side. The wheels can wait, so can that front lip, rear spoiler, exhaust or whatever else.... meanwhile, the water pump, idler pulleys, serpentine belt may all be about to go, and that's not mentionning the fluids... I just recently debated this myself😎
