2009 C4S Valuation Opinions Wanted
Having sold my 991.1 C4S i'm now looking at 997.2 C2S and C4Ss. I have found a C4S that i like but have been trying to get sense of real world price . Short background on car is roughly 60K miles, Sport chrono,Limited slip diff, 18 Way Sport Adaptive Seats, PDK, and a few other nice interior/electronics options. , 45K and 60K services have been done at Porsche Dealership, always CA car, tires OK some wear, Car was sold via Porsche dealers for all previous owners- 3rd Owner picked it up at roughly 30K and it showed up at an auto auction late last year and current boutique dealer likely got it there. Car presents well, clean Car Fax.
I'm slightly concerned there is no service history between 2014 and 2018 (3rd owner) on CarFax-haven't seen if Porsche shows anything in the system. I think current dealer had 45k and 60K service done after he gained possession. Equally concerned that it made it to auction rather than being sold off a lot. KBB shows value of around $45-47K. I think dealer is going to want somewhere between $50-$53K. Gut feel is this is on high side but asking prices on 997.2s are all over the place and its not out of line with some.
I've bought a good number of used Porsches and M-Series BMWs and usually feel pretty good on my gut take on price but this one i'm bouncing around on so thought i would throw it out to the community for comment.
Thanks in Advance to anybody who feels like weighing in..

I returned to a 997.2S from a 991 late last year and found that there was quite a demand for clean .2 cars. The low mileage S and 4S cars (< 30,000) that were pristine were around 60k and beyond. Just my opinion but from what you provided the car sounds clean if you can satisfy yourself in regards to the maintenance history. I would think that car would bring around $50k at a dealer with that mileage.

Couple more data points for you. I just bought an ‘09, 20k mile, C4S coupe for around $58k. Pristine launch car with sport buckets. I know personally of a nearly identical car (40k miles) selling in the last quarter for low $60s.

I will add that the day before my sale ( this past Friday) I checked NADA and came up with 54K, which surprised me. Prices are all over the place from high 40's to low 60's. There seem to be some sweet spots where everyone can be happy. For the car you are looking at, low to mid 50's seems right to me. Don't lose a car you really like over a grand or three. In the big picture it doesn't matter. Good luck hunting. Wait for what you really want.

Yes, excellent advice. I’m on my third 997- this one was optioned exactly right, right color in and out, etc and I am glad that I didn’t let a couple thousand keep me from the car. I negotiated but ultimately paid top dollar but that’s fine. That’s not what I think about when I’m enjoying the car every day.

I think for a well cared for 997.2 C4S you are looking at over 50k. Bought my 2009 C4S for low 50s which I thought was a good deal.
Have seen even some in the 40s but with accident history and high miles.
On on the other end are people thinking these are gold. Many cars in 60k range that are overpriced.
Good luck op. Took me 2 years of regular looking to find the right car for me.

Another reference for you: we purchased a CPO 2012 C4S coupe, 36k miles with PDK, SC, PSE and bucket seats (MSRP $123k) for $61k back in January. Thought we could do better but didn't want to travel too much for the purchase.
Good luck with your search!!

You don’t say how many miles 3rd owner put on car. If not many, and now services up to date I wouldn’t worry much. If planning long term ownership, others advice is correct, don’t worry about pricing as much as getting the car you want. If you let one go by due to pricing, may be long time before the right car comes up. Then you’ll just go thru the whole conundrum again. And will have wasted driving time!
