Car Gurus - Accident History - ERROR?!?!?!
Looking at a vehicle. Car Gurus is showing the triangle and 1 accident. Dealer is being very transparent and professional. They provided Carfax with NO accidents. They also went over the entire car with a paint meter. No issues.
Anyone ever seen this before?
I believe the dealer as they have given me no reason to doubt them.
My concern is that the car is good but there is an accident reported somewhere and that could cause me issues when selling the car at some point in the future.
Thoughts?

Well, then check what Auto Check shows. CG is just a tool that shows what high level stuff they can find. It's up to you to do the deep digging. Keep in mind neither AutoCheck nor CarFax is 100% accurate.

from past experience, Carfax is hit and miss on reporting accidents. Autocheck is far more reliable. If Car Gurus uses Autocheck and is showing an accident, I would get the Autocheck report. Paint meter is only useful on impacts that involved metal panels, if the impact involved front/rear bumper and underlying structures, it is very easy to hide, and WILL cause you trouble when selling in the future. Don’t believe for a second the dealer isn’t aware of this.

Very different take on this compared to what I got from a certified auto appraiser. I've posted this before but I'll repeat it since my car is for sale and the rear end event is well documented. According to the appraiser, proper (to factory standards) repair or replacement of front or rear bumper with paint to factory standards has no affect on the value of the car since they are not part of the structure of the car and are considered "bolt on items". Same applies to exhaust parts. So bumpers alone are basically a non event as long as the repairs and paint are done to factory standards. Underlying structures though..... whole different story. Here's the best reference to this that I can recall: https://rennlist.com/forums/991/7603...r-job-huh.html
Big deal here. 997's has steel frame. 991's have aluminum frame. This according to the best body shop in the state that fixed my car..

FWIW.....Porsche will CPO cars with front or rear bumper jobs as long as it's limited to that. Damage and repair to any other panel.....no CPO. Confirmed this with my service adviser at the dealership and seems to be corroborated by this story too: https://rennlist.com/forums/market/1...2#post15676127

This is minor. I would still use this as a bargaining chip with the dealership because regards how severe you feel this impacts the value, it will hurt future resale. I would request the front end be examined. I'm pretty sure there is little or no damage behind the bumper. I wouldn't sweat it, but still, bring it to the attention of the dealership and make an offer considering the accident.
